Alright in the short time I suppose, but fairly terrible after the 24th month.

No different to renting a house is it?

I don't understand why people are so anti-lease/finance.

People rent suits, hookers, games and all sorts yet cars are taboo.

Spend £200 a month on fags, booze or takeaways, no one bats an eye.

Spend £200 on leasing a car, everyone loses their minds!

If your looking for a brand new car then depreciation alone in first two years will exceed the monthly payments. Of course there's a tipping point but in this case its a no brainer.

Exactly. My missus' fiesta is £120 a month.

30 quid a week for her to drive about in a brand new car and not worry about something going wrong. Well worth it.

Really good deal and very tempting !

I have spent over a grand in the last six month on our vectra, with general servicing/Cambelt etc...

Who pays for the servicing/tyres on lease cars ? I've never really looked into it properly before.

Do you just give the car back after the 24 months or can you continue the lease but with a new car ?

Last car I bought second hand but when you consider the value it lost in the time I had it, plus the cost of maintaining it I'm not sure in my case it worked out much cheaper, plus you have the hassle of getting it fixed, unforeseen expenses etc.

On the flip side my van has lost about £2000 in four years, never broken down/failed an mot so clearly it can go either way.

My MK I Laguna was a present from a mate. It lasted me nearly five years and needed almost nothing over that time, plus I can get scrap value for it now.

Can't beat not being fussy when it comes to motor cars.

Don't get me wrong Ben, I was merely confirming.

Dependant on one's personal situation and any potential small print or contract loopholes, I suppose it can be ideal.

Probably cheaper in many respects and incidences, if you consider the car to be just transport and are using it as a tool rather than a possession.

Also, if you are guaranteed to have that amount of disposable income every month, indefinitely.

For my situation (particularly at present), a banger is a far better bet.

That's MUCH less than my last car loan was

(but then I did get to keep the car)

No one!

When I was at volkswagen, the lease cars had almost nothing done to em, cos no cunt was willing to pay a penny towards their upkeep.

You can get maintained & non-maintained.

My Citroen is inclusive of maintenance for everything except tyres. I don't do the miles and its a shopping trolley so doing it will need rubber before I give it back.

I was kind of hoping for a M235i deal this year like last years M135i deal, wishful thinking I guess. Plus it would need to have the s-tronic gearbox because it's great. Brilliant car!

Mmmm.

I am thinking its too much for me. If that deal where for a 135i or 235i then I wouldn't hesitate. But I cant see past the 5doors, pov wheels and DSG adding an extra £20 p/m.

Im out.

Might be worth ringing round a few places, some may have earlier slots than others.

When I got this car it came fairly quickly as the firm I used had already ordered a certain amount as soon as the deal was offered to them, knowing they would shift them no problem.

My mate signed up for one yesterday . £210 + vat . In the blue colour . He gets it next week apparently . Also no leather interia ? I can't believe a vw at 30k doesn't come with leather as standard. Am not into finance but I bet at £3k a year that just covers depreciation

I was looking into leasing but it wasn't right for me at the time so I bought 2 year old second hand. If, in 5 years when I come to change, my requirements are different I might lease.

Makes financial sense, invest in appreciating assets (property), lease depreciating ones. As already pointed out, total lease costs over 2/3 years generally are less £££ than depreciation if you had bought the thing.

Of course, if you are happy in an older car and know your way around a bag of spanners (and have the time and inclination to do so - not so much for me anymore when the only half day off I get is a Saturday afternoon!) then it won't be for you

There won't be, we only see so many because we readbcar forums. How may m135i's have you seen on the road? Ignoring the fact they look almost like a 116d, I think I've seen 2. If I went by pistonheads, at least every second car should be an m135i.
