If you went on the internet you'd never buy an M3 either, nobody documents a good running car online. If it's had work done on the apparently 'dodgy' bits I say do it

they are cracking cars doesn't have to cost the earth to fix, however won't be cheap for everything

main woes are the gearbox, they need regular fluid changes, and if possible always scan the car for faults with vag-com first to see if its hiding any nasties

Im sold on them, picking up my new one tomorro just sold the merc, going back to another avant condition and previous history are very important in selecting a good example, one im buying has x2 previous forum owners from rs246.com huge folder of receipts and owned by careful enthusiast can't wait

That's the thing that makes me consider one tbh. I've had cars that are renowned to be expensive cars to maintain and have escaped relatively unscathed so far
