Manufacturers spend millions designing cars to be as optimal as possible, especially the performance models. Wishbone angles, cv joints, steering track etc will all be designed to work best at certain angles, that will be in and around to the standard setup.

When people lower their cars stupid amounts they fuck this all up sending all the geo out to all sorts of weird angles out of spec.

If you are just doing it for look (although I thin kthat looks too low anyway) then fine, that's pretty much what I did to the mini. I realise its probably impacted the handling a bit

I believe manufacturers design and engineer cars to handle and perform for mostly road conditions.
They have to compromise otherwise ride will suffer too much. Derrrrr

Ride height on a road car is dictated be a lot of things Steve. Handling is one of them but it'll always be a compromise.

Compare a standard Clio 197 with a Cup Racer, thrn tell me lower isn't better for handling.

They run standard bottom arms, standard strut towers, standard knuckles etc but they are a lot lower than the standard car.

You have a margin of adjustment, eg the CV joints, inner should be no more than 18 degrees out of spec, the outer 45 degrees on the Fiesta/Puma chassis

Wishbones also have an optimal operating range.

Race cars and the like run modified wishbones, top mounts etc to allow more adjustment.

Doing to much to the standard kit will make it worse.

Looks like they have had a lot of offs though, the cars are fucked, probably because they lowered them and ruined the handling so every corner they spin off.

The cup car geo will be miles away from the road car

This is why I like Kyle T's project thread,

he has taken in to account the roll centres and general geo of the car, most people dont understand it

The clios use standard wishbones, standard pick up points (with fixed, solid, top mounts), standard hubs, strengthened knuckles (standard mountings though). The only difference is the bottom ball joint.
