I've been with Talktalk for about 2 years with normal broadband, it's probably only cut out twice in that time, has been consistent and is only £10 a month. The issue is that it's 10mb download and only 512mb upload, which means it takes ages to download any games but also uploading anything is a waste of time.

I was basically wondering if anyone was using TalkTalk fibre optic broadband, how they found it and also if the router they give you is a reliable unit?

It's 38MB unlimited for £15 a month + line rental.

Thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you, I'm teetering on the edge of going into the contract. Recently I believe I was sent a new router that doubles up as a ADSL + Cable all in one solution (it's black if that helps ), maybe they see me as a prospective customer? This unit though is solid as a rock, in the 6 months I've had it I've only had to reboot it once, which even beats the good old fashioned Netgear DG834G that I normally use instead of the crap these companies normally send out

Do talktalk use sky for their broadband? If so, I have sky fibre unlimited and it's very fast. Cost me £17 a month.

I am using Talktalk Fibre.

I'd rather rub sand paper all over my dick than continue with them after the 18 months are up.

yes and no Fred, the physical line will be a BT line/fibre but alot of ISPs have their own equipment in the exchanges to run their own internet services. I don't know the ins and outs of it but it's not all BT gear i think.

Fibre is slightly different.

LLU means that ISP owned DSLAM's could be put into the exchange and it's possible for the ISP to have the line from your house, all the way back to their network.

With fibre, the bit to the exchange is all BT at the moment, when it gets back to the exchange, it can use the backhual belonging to talk talk or sky or whoever.
