Got my high (er) level brake light fitted today. It's just to make the rear a bit more visible to drivers in 'normal' sized cars. Quite pleased with it for a couple of pounds!

I'll be installing my new dash in the next few weeks (carbon fibre) and need to decide which toggle switches to install. I'll be installing 2 or 3, one for the fuel pump, one for the fan and a spare incase anything else needs wiring to a switch.

Having the switches light up when powered up would be great, so here's a few choices;, which ones do people think would suit best?

Picked up a spare engine at the weekend, well, I really just wanted the carbs, but for an extra £50 I took the whole thing.

Then set about stripping them down to clean the jets etc. unfortunately, it took me longer than I intended to get into them, as a previous owner had over tightened the bolts!

Hoping to make more progress at the weekend

Finished cleaning the carbs today, so took some action shots during the process. The factory setting for the pilot screw is 2 turns out, but I've set mine at 3, because of the larger bore exhaust etc over a bike.
I've now wrapped these carbs up as spares.

Next jobs are to fit the new CF dash and switches and it'll be time to drive the thing!

Well, been doing a few tester trips recently, which proved to be useful! One of the half shafts slipped out of the axle due to the bearing retaining collar not being tight enough (as the shaft has had so many bearing put on/off over the years). To check for damage, I removed the whole axle and replaced a couple of bits while I was at it. I also put a couple of welds on each retaining collar just to be safe!

New gasket

New pinion seal

Brakes cleaned, rebuilt and bled again. Just gotta top the axle up with oil and go for another test drive. Hopefully all will be well.

Few bits done today:

Fitted my tonneau cover (which needs a wash).
Sprayed the front and rear arches metallic black.
Give it a clean.
Need to do the bonnet and find some replacement bonnet catches as the old ones perished, doh!

...not sure if you're joking or not, but just in case you're not, that was my wife's first time in the car and the first proper journey other than it's MOT, so I wasn't exactly going to go hooning around with her was I?

Will any video I do on the roads show any "balls or driving talent"? ...no, as I value my license/life too much, afterall, the roads aren't a racetrack.

If I manage to do a track day this year and video it, I'll put it on here for certain members to tell me how talentless I am. If only we were all pro drivers eh?

Giving it some billy big balls in a straight line up to the speed limit will suffice so we can actually hear something and see some acceleration

ill try and get a 0-60 vid this weekend on my old camera if the weather holds out. 0-60 it's as quick as anything on the road, but it runs out of puff shortly afterwards, due to the running gear it's currently sporting.

I wrapped the bonnet in gloss black to tie in with the gloss aeroscreen and gloss carbon fibre panels. I then painted the front and rear arches in metallic black and lacquered. Looking much smarter now I reckon.

Took it to a local car show a few weeks back. I went in the spectators parking queue and was ready to pay an entry fee, but the steward wanted me have it on display for free which was nice...

Then I rigged my go pro mount up to the roll bar ready to get a journey video this morning, only to realise that the SD card was in the Mrs' laptop at work I did take a mate in it the other day though and he got a quick vid, so that'll be going up soon when he sends it over.

Some more pictures from my early morning thrash before the clouds came:

Wheeled this out of the garage a few weeks ago to do a partial winter rebuild.

Started off by removing the rear axle and sent it off to be shot blasted and have the mounting brackets re-welded as it was in pretty sorry state

Sanded down all four rear arms ready for paint

I purchased a roll cage over Xmas for a bargain. It's from a Suzuki Jimny and for the price, I thought it was worth a punt

Cut that into pieces and started chopping and welding

^ that'll be a front 'hoop' welded to the floor, then I'll be cutting the old brackets off and welding some cross bars on across the to rear hoop, similar to this hopefully:

Was also bidding on a Quaife LSD, but it went for more than it was willing to pay, so I missed out

The cover came with it. Think the previous owners mrs made it. It's poppers round the edges and a central zip so the passenger side can be left attached whilst driving alone.

My 3.54 diff arrived the other day to replace my 3.9

Took me ages to clean and degrease it, but got there eventually and sprayed/fitted it along with a new heavy duty gasket
