power steering issues and impreza exhaust manifolds are not a good mix. Thankfully no lasting/real damage.... just mess to clean up.

Need to investigate but first impressions seem to suggest the PS cooler (APS 7row 115mm cooler) is causing a pressure build up in the return from the rack to reservoir.

No idea why/how... but simply bypassing the cooler seemed to stop it blowing off/splitting the hose

17th April

Ok, so the car is back in Wallace Performance getting a few things checked over for the weekend.

There has been a knocking from the rear of the car which is possibly due to the rear diff twisting under cornering/load. It appears the prop is also knocking off the underside of the car, so spacing down the nose of the diff a bit to give more clearance, and potentially battering the underside of the car with a hammer if needed!
Getting a diff brace made up to prevent the diff from twisting under load.

Vids from the trackday

FAT

25row 235mm oil cooler fitted tonight... replaces old 19row jobbie. Fee is seeing 100+ deg temps after about 6 hot laps.... if this doesnt work there are a couple of options...

1: Ducting to stop air spilling over/around cooler
2: open up more of the bumper/grill to get more air to cooler (thats the main difference with mine, I dont run a grill!)
3: Move it to where the planned brake ducts would run, and duct

2nd June

Larger oil cooler fitted, with some fences to stop air spilling. This kept oil temps around 95deg max at Oulton races, but water temps did creep up towards 100deg at times.

Brakes - Went through two rear sets of pads (replacement/spare set were part worn, so more like complete set). The front brake issue <cross-over pipe was leaking fluid> seems to have been there for a while as thats quite high wear LOL. 6 bottles or RBF660 and a few sets of pads (mintex) ordered.

A wideband was fitted on the Thurs (thanks to Zen Performance and WP) - keep an eye on fueling.

2 more sets of ProRace 1.2s arrived...

15th June

Fee's first DNF for the year but it was a learning one caused by teething issues.

The car has been getting quite hot (oil) since it was built... this was seemingly sorted for the 20min races at Oulton - bigger oil cooler with some fences/shrouding.

Today this issue was water temps. The ECU kicked into LIMP mode when it reached 103deg, and Fee spluttered round for a while before calling it a day - sadly they red flagged 1lap later Hindsight

Looking at the logs the water temp seemed to be stable at 102-104deg (peaking before dropping again on sections of the lap), so the decision was taken to raise the trigger point a bit to allow some head room. Seemed to work, and managed to finish race2 at a possibly reduced pace.

So..... COOLING

Dropped the rear of the bonnet - check
Move Oil Cooler - Its currently sitting infront of the rad.... and obstructing/heating it. Move to front/inner arch area and duct from brake duct hole.
    Shroud the rad
Check the rad - we have two spare, one OE and one Alu. If heaps of bent fins replace
Vents - more vents in the bonnet in front of the reversed scoop thingy?!

From the logs I can see the rad fan (single slim line) was on for the duration of the first race.... would this be causing any issues when the car is actually moving through air? The only difference from Oulton is the fans being on (lower trigger temp).

23rd July

Rear Diff diagnosis - Goosed. Will get it sent away and an uprated plate diff installed most likely. Torsen LSD spare will be fitted.

Splitter one step forward - just needs painted, edge trimmed and then a couple more tie rods fitted.

will use this space for an oil cooler and fee via that duct

Over heating: Ordered a couple of large Mishimoto alu rads, high pressure caps and will look into larger SPAL fans for thi scar (will use OE fans on mine with the same rad)

Compression test done - 10.2 bar on all 4
Leak down test done - no leakage

Bought 2x spare R180 plate diffs - one will get shimmed tighter and another will get rebuilt with a KAAZ 1.5wat LSD unit.

Two new large Mishimoto rads arrived - 1 for each car. Fee's will run dual SPAL fans and I'll use OE fans and shrouds on mine. OE is better but Fee's doesnt have the space with the IC pipe work.

Ordered a larger front ARB to try and increase the roll resistance and move weight to the rear on corners - to try and avoid wheels lifting on hairpins

some interesting incidents going on behind. Black Impreza driver is blaming Fee for running him off the road. Clown.

Race 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rofPF6m53Q&list=UUaaJwH6SIIuAR039SQevGWw - first half of the race was great, but went backwards with brake issues int he second half. Turns out the union between the caliper halfs sprung a leak and was losing fluid!

SLS Round 2 - Knockhill REVERSE

Fee gave the engine builder (Steven Darley) a dual drive in her car. He went on to set a 53s lap :O Only 0.3s off Charlie Shaw in the 1000bhp spaceframed Focus. They (Fee and Steven) were later DQ'd for using illegal tyres. They were MSA 1B but not E Marked
