Just been for a run -

7.31km/4.54miles 40min

Most of it was off road and the only road but were to get to the fields and a few stops to cross roads.

anybody use a gps type watch to track things on? i currently use my phone and strava app, but im considering going to a watch so i can play the music on my phone and keep it stored in my pocket instead of having to stop and start it taking gloves off etc. its a commotion.

Had my Garmin Forerunner 205 for about 6 years now. Really handy for pace etc and not too expensive compare to the newer ones

Garmin 410 here. I don't run with my phone anymore, too frightened of dropping it

Theres some cheaper garmins available these days, not as expensive as you think

23:32 5k treadmill so that's a shade quicker I think 2 seconds per mile. Doesn't sound a lot but it's closer to doing it sub 23 min......is what I'm telling myself......

one thing i cant emphasise enough, make sure your running shoes are correct for you gait. Get yourself to a local running shop who will advise as to whats best and let you try them on their treadmill. Dont just go by looks or name.

That's good going. My 1 mile PB is 5:21 and I felt like my lungs were going to burst. Maintaining anything under 6 min/mile for more than 1 mile is a real effort.

Thanks guys, the thing I've found is that after a while you start to realise it's a mental thing. You might feel like quitting but your body can still go a hell of a lot more!
