Type in IPCONFIG in a DOS box ("Command Prompt" if you don't know what a DOS box is).

You can't tell that kind of information from an IP address? I'd speak to your friend and ask who is monitoring you.

example, if u gave me an IP to a server (NT) there are a million open ports that can be exploted and then i could launch an attack on it to deface websites and take the server down, leave back doors open... without an IP address no one would have a "home" on the internet.

not everyone is sitting on the internet! Do you know the difference between a public and private address? The only server we have on the internet here is a bordermanager, that has an IP, which is masked, so you won't find that and even if you did you wouldn't be able to get in and launch an attack on any of my servers.
Likewise you cannot see what server is monitoring Gambits netwrok because it is behind the firewall of is the firewall itself.

dude, i am a unix network administator. so obously ill know the diff between a NAT'ed IP, you twonk. EVERY pc will have an ip address, even if it's just a loopback. if it has a network card then either windows/nix will assign it a dchp IP 192.x.x.x.) or you will have to assign it a static ip address and point it to your internet gateway. so yes if u have internet access you will have a public accessable IP address.

My PC has internet access and the IP address is 172.50.214.196
Attack that. opps, you can't.

No network card will assign itself a loopback address??? if a DHCP server is not avaliable the card will assign a 169.x.x.x address, not 127.0.0.1
