Anyone play?
I'm going to take some lessons and start playing.
Been to Top Golf a bit lately ( ) and got my driving fairly consistent.
Any tips?

I play, Mark Graham and Tommy play a fair bit to my knowledge.
Tips... Practice as much as you can on the course. Can't be cheap around your way!

It varies massively. From about £15 for 18 holes to about £250 for 18 holes
I would just use the cheaper ones.

i had a few rounds last year. Practice consistency in your swing and use local driving ranges

Got a few mates that are real handy at golf that have given me a few pointers on the driving range. Was more how I was standing so more individual advice to me than generic stuff.
ALthough one said i was moving my head as I hit the ball and that I should stare at the floor where the ball was and I would hit it cleaner. I thought it was rubbish but it worked and after a few minutes I was consistently hitting the ball cleaner.
Yet to put it into practice over 18 holes though.

Jamie is right, keep your head down and whilst on the driving range, forget about tracking the ball for a short while. Just get them hit.
You will need to learn to re-bring your head up though after the ball is hit when on a course otherwise you will certainly lose the ball!

Def have half a dozen lessons or so and see how you get on then have more or if you're natural get playing on the golf course. Going to a driving range/top golf is OK to just hit balls and get some reps in but I find getting on the course more beneficial. You can be confident at the range but going outdoors on a course is whole new ball game.

Don't over-use driving range though, it's good for developing your swing, but that's about it. You get too used to the mats and tee's best practice is definately on the course. Look for your local 9 holer, and play that a few times before going onto an 18.

Been playing for a few years now and the best pieces of advice I received when starting out were keep you head down, see the grass after you have contacted the ball, and keep your swing slow and steady, momentum is everything! However if your serious do a bit of research in to your local Pros and get some lessons

At work we have a corporate membership at The Shire London (only course in the UK designed by Seve Ballesteros don't you know) and work treated us to a golf lesson and dinner one summers evening.
The coaches said it is funny how people spend 90% of their time "practicing" or "training" on the driving range, but driving/teeing off is only 10% of the game.

Everybody I know and play golf with do not spend 90% of their golfing time in the driving range.

He meant when they're getting into it and trying to get good, people spend too much time in the driving range and not actually playing golf.

I dont really play, Im very fair weathered.
I am also shite.
get a few lessons but dont go to driving ranges as said because hitting from a mat is easy.
I dont go often enough to get better. I played a couple of comps with guys from work with my 28 handicap and had the best games ive ever played and won all 3 comps

Deffo. I'm a shit golfer and was at the range once with a mate who plays every week. Quad came out to collect the balls and was about 150 yards away and I said lets try and hit it. My first attempt, landed one right on top of the cage. Complete fluke.

Find golf pretty dull UNLESS I'm in the driving range.
Get frustrated playing even 9 holes, never mind 18. At least with the driving range you get some satisfaction in just hitting it a long way

Yeh there's a few reasons I want to start playing. A lot of the lads play during the summer so it means I can get involved. Plus you've got golfing holidays, corporate golf days, all kinds of stuff.
