What's the 'mod' involve? I've just purchased a 1.9cdti 150 which obviously has the M32 box and want to get some power out of it ect, hence all the questions

Diesel's kill the boxes more than petrol cars due to the torque.

Andy stockon does the mod. But its not cheap.

Surely a mapped cdti wouldn't be pushing as much as a modified VXR would it? All quite new to me so may be a silly question

A mapped diesel will put out more torque to the gearbox than a mapped VXR unless the VXR is silly tuned therefore that will kill the box too. I'm not saying it will be quicker but more pressure is put on the box. I know of 2 local 1.9 diesels kill them boxes standard and at low mileage. They are just a bad gearbox. Touch wood my dads is still going strong

Ah fair TBF I'm pretty happy with the power standard just want to be able to not worry about the gearbox 24/7 plus have a feeling it may need doing at some point knowing what they are like

M32 isn't great... Issue is the torque these new car produce eg VXR/CDTI etc... If using hard I would use a gearox oil cooler (track work etc) I haven't had issue yet with a box on either cars of mine.... touch wood! Done 15k with stage 3 astra and 4k with stage 3 corsa.... I find good/regular gearbox oil changes can help!!

Isn't Andys Stockon bits just different bearings... to my knowledge there isn't a 100% fix yet!!

The bearing replacement is the fix mate. ie better more reliable bearings. The ones used in the m32 from new are cheap quality and calapse. Causing whining, sloppy stick movement and in worst cases locked gears.

You'll find all the info on the gear box here mate

What do you expect if Fiat make a gearbox.

It might help that you heel and toe Dale, but you shouldn't need to on modern box.

Renault that makes the boxes.

That's the one and only thing that puts me off buying another vxr. Its just to big an issue to ignore when maybe buying one as its a very expensive fix.
