DLL files are system files used by programs.

And yes don't make any financial transactions on any site until you've sorted your laptop out first.

How new is the laptop? e.g. how much personal stuff do you have on it?

Might be worth backing everything up you need and doing a complete system restore to factory settings.

It's just over three months old.

I may well try and source myself a cheap remote doo dah and do a full back up and redo everything from scratch, just to be on the safe side as this is my new machine and it needs to last me.
