That's crazy, but it happens all the time

Surely a car with 250k miles is going to have an absolutely fucked interior and stuff like that, I'd like to think it would be obvious in this case.

I know people that do it or get it done.

Not really Kyle. My interior is original and done 200k. Looks fine still. Could tell people its done 100k and they wouldn't know.

I sold my astra gsi ML53DHM with 93k on it

It was up on ebay not long ago with 63k on it

Far too common, but the only people that get caught out is the person not doing the checks when they buy it.

Best to buy high mileage cars and replace everything yourself. The only way to be sure.

Seen it done loads. Especially with hire cars, basically the hire company lease them, with a 10k a year limit. So 30k after 3 years when they are going back, seen some with 50/60k taken back to 28/29k so they don't have to pay extra charges.

Thing is its so easy to do on new cars, no MOT for 3 years etc.

Say your doing 50k a year, each year take it down 40k and get a main dealer service for the stamp. So after 3 years its done 150k but showing 30k with 3 dealer stamps. All too easy.

Its hard to tell.

We have a 290k Passat at work and the back seats have never been sat in. The front looks dirrty but all the bolsters and firm with no wear on them. The gear knob also has minimal scratches and all writing on it is clearly readable. You could easily knock 150k off it and no one would know.

I think at some point everyone will have them black boxes, will transmit mileage speed and usage , insurance and vosa will know everything . I've seen loads that have been clocked recently with the new mot certs.

I didn't think so. Thought you needed somethin like a TachoPro which are a lot more expensive than a generic Tech2. Sure the TachoPro is what they were using to program keys and nick BMW's too actually.

Steering wheel for most stuff on eBay is a lot less money than the difference between a 80k car and a 250k car!

After a point it's hard to tell anyway, wear and tear all looks the same after x amount of miles.

Opcom can do it, so i would imagine Tech2 will have no trouble's doing it.

Opcom can with the car pass key yeah, but opcom isn't a generic £10 ebay code reader which I assumed people were talking about. TachoPro will be the one pro's use I'm sure.
