Everyone else does it, and Stage 2+ sounds better than Stage 1

£200 precat decat
£35 High floe panel filter
£325 Remap
£60 Cat Delete pipe

to get 50% more power

Not wanting to cause an arguement, but for an extra 50% power/75bhp, doesn't that seem like quite alot?

Im sure ive seen cars with 'tuning boxes' worth around the £200 mark, getting close to 200bhp/33% more power?

So that means, for an extra £420 (on top/over a tuning box), you can have an extra 25bhp?

Don't get me wrong, I think you've done well to get that amount of power from the engine, IMO, i just can't see spending that amount of money, for 'such little gain'

That's not a little gain? What kind of gain do you expect from basic bolt on mods? Short of bolting a bigger turbo on you're not going to get mental figures.
Tuning boxes are dog shit, they just chuck loads of fuel in, a proper remap will be much better. 75bhp over standard will feel like a different car.

This will be much better than a Tuning Box

If you think spending £620 is a bit much for adding 50% of the original power, then I'd like to see your opinion of other cars and the cost it'd take to make that sort of increase!

For a 60bhp increase on my car (less than 25% of the original power), I'd be looking at around £4k minimum, which would also include changing the Intercooler, Radiator & Turbo...
As Graham has said, considering these are pretty basic near enough Bolt On mods, that is amazing value for money.

That's cheap to get to that bhp.

An exhaust alone costs that on its own these days, and with an exhaust I'd probably only see 5hp gain.

Some people expect to much, for very little.

you cant have everything for 100quid you wont a decent all round car you have to spend a little extra. my engine in my corsa turbo cost me 8k then another 3k for the turbo set up plus a load more .but now its the only 1650cc stroker 8v turbo in the country and at the end of the day you cant spend money when your dead got to enjoy life you only live once and its only money at the end of the day

Also I think people forget you there isn't a set price to BHP ratio, so there is only so much you can spend untill you start hitting the limits of the 'stock' engine/parts before you have to spend mega bucks just to gain a little bit more.

Impressive though and I would love one but really am put off by the gear box issues (not just internet stories - a few of my friends have all had their boxes go). Nice cars though.

since when has 75bhp extra been a little gain?

jesus christ, my fiesta only has 80bhp so for a 1.9 diesel astra to get the same power as extra for only £600 seems very cheap to me.

It might only be £600 but you'll need £2k in the bank for a new gearbox too.

thats excellent figures! i almost went for a cdti astra, but ended up going for the Sport Megane DCI. simular mods and price but with out the de-cat made 202 bhp and 363lbft! Diesels are something else! after the mods and map, i gained around 15-20 mpg!

At 112k miles I'd be scared of pushing the engine/clutch/turbo

If you take a XE for example which also has 150BHP you have to spend thousands to get 50% gain so £600 is nothing really.
