I used to think that manual > auto but my thoughts have changed in recent years. Driving a little sports car that needs some work with revs manual every day. Most other situations (maybe not 4x4ing) I'd take the auto now

Will last forever as long as it's serviced properly. Standard engines good for about 750bhp. Compression ratios 8:1.

That's what the Internet says it's all speculation , modifying/tuning any engine puts it under more strain/stress therefore lowering its life span, some may last for years some may only last for months all depends, and it certainly depends on a lot more than just regular servicing.

I hope it lasts a good while but I am interested to see how long the good while is

Agree and Disagree on that. I Will say however that plenty of people run around the 500bhp mark and kick the living crap out of them drifting etc and have zero issues. There are also plenty out there running more. The 1jz engine is a very good and very strong engine, most failures do stem from poor maintainence and also poor tuning be it crap or unsuitable components or shite mapping

Getting annoyed trying to find a decent manifold to meet my needs, so the soarer will be going off to the guys at simpson race exhausts in a month or so to see what they can do with it.

Hoping my budget will allow me to have them make the manifold and exhaust system. The system and manifold they made for my corsa was amazing

So its been a while.. been so busy at works its unreal! Can't belive we are almost out of March already!!

So theres been some progress regarding the Soarer, firstly some nice shiney parts have arrived, the most noteable being a Tial MV-R 44mm external wastegate from the guys at GarageD

and some little bits, oil drain for the turbo and a blank for one of the oil feeds

So as of Friday I also have a confirmed booking at JC Weldfab near Northampton for a custom manifold and exhaust system. Breaking the credit card out for this one as its stupidly expensive, the quality should be world class... they have made exhaust systems for some of the redbull F1 cars, plus suspension arms for some Lemans racers.
Im going to ask them to mount the intercooler and may have them make up some hardpipes for me also. As a result yesterday was my only free day left between now and when the Soarer goes and was spent ripping it to bits ready for them

In the workshop Friday night ready for me Saturday morning, and yep thats a Testerossa in the background having some light restoration after being stood in a garage for 12 years

Large pile of scrap

Inspected the turbos and confirmed my diagnosis, excessive play in the bearing of the rear turbo resulting in the compressor blades fouling the housing

And this is how shes now... im super excited about the trip to JC Weldfab, just trying not to think of the bill!!!

We wont talk about the price, just incase my wife sees!!

Yeah 2 months its been away, I did say there was no rush to have it done, its only in the last couple of weeks that I have needed it back, so asked the guys at JC Weldfab to have it completed as soon as they could.

Its had a load of stuff done,
Manifold in 321 stainless,
Downpipe, screamer and twin box system in 316
Intercooler mounted, and modified, boost pipes and air pipes made
Plus a couple of other bits.

Just need to find time to get my huge list of other stuff done now
