Been a member here long enough now so thought i'd treat myself to the premium service so i can share with you my project.

Bought the car from a member on here for a pricey sum, although at the time i thought the price were fair as it was a completey standard 1.4 16v sport with only 47k miles, full history upto 30k.

I then realised it wasn't so much of a bargain after i'd bought it and found his project thread & found he's made a 50% profit, you live & learn i guess it's part of life, get up and move on as they say.

Here's a few pictures from when i bought it.

Car stayed like this for a couple week having come from a noisy 106 quicksilver with a vtr conversion, the peace & quiet of the corsa was bliss, but soon got bored and bought a set of Depo smoked headlight & a slatted front grill.

Also bought some GM wind deflectors, Corsa C Exclusiv alloys & lowered it on spax adjustable front & rear shocks with 40mm springs.

Looked stupid with the huge tyres and fell out the wheels so bought a set of cesaro's instead.

Car stayed this way for a month or so, bought a Vectra B 1.8 16v with the intention of converting the corsa having read upon daveyLC's guide.

Serviced the 1.4 with all genuine oil/filter/coolant etc, 2 weeks down the line the engine decided to snap it's timing belt, thought was strange as the history states the timing belt was changed at 19k miles? although the car was burning quite a bit of oil i presume something had seized, with it being a 1 lady owner i can see why it's snapped, guess the saying of (never buy a car off old people as they never bed them in properly) lives up to it's meaning lol.

This pissed me off big time paying over the odds for it 2 snap its timing belt 4 months down the line.

Oh well conversion time, did get many pictures of this as was trying my best to get it down within the day.

Engine bay shot for fun.

Conversion was pretty easy if i must say, bar the wiring, although i followed the guide to a Tee, car would not turn over! just a bright orange management light illuminated on the dash, got depressed at this time and wanted rid of the corsa!

Corsa stayed like this for a week as work got really busy, after buying another ECU, transponder & chip from ebay to find that wasn't the problem pissed me off even more, i wanted to scrap the damn thing!

Turned out in the end i hadn't plug a plug in , plugged it and wahey, fired up first time! happy days Don't have any pictures of the engine, will have to get some later.

Took cesaro's off the car and took them to work for me to blast & powder coat, chose a silver powder from america which looked amazing in the pictures.

Wheels blasted and ready for powder.

Painted

Wheels looked mint when painted, but since put tyres on and fit them to the car, the paint looks like a shiny primer, im proper gutted!!

Don't have any pictures of wheels fitted, will get some this weekend if weather is nice. That's it for now.

Cheers mate! I'll try get some pictures of the wheels on the car so you can see how awful they look lol.

I've ordered z18xe manifold, astra downpipe so I can fit stainless exhaust I've already got, tidy up engine bay then finish off audio install I started a couple months back.

Bit of an update, bought some bits.

Straight away got her it wrapped up, how hard is it to wrap these damn things, did a proper shit job, horrible stuff it is.

Just waiting on a silicone reducer pipe to arrive so i can get the airbox to join up properly instead of using duck tape

Also need a exhaust sleeve as the downpipe i've bought is exact same size as my exhaust

Managed to take 2 quick snaps with the centre caps on the wheels, colour is slighty growing on me but still not sure.

Might give it a wash this afternoon if i can be arsed.

Not an update, but a problem!

Used £25 worth of petrol this week and only managed just over 100 miles, anyone know what can cause really bad MPG?

Is it overfuelling? A sensor going dodgey can cause it to overfuel.

Also I've heard cone filters make them drink fuel if you have one?

No idea if it's over fueling, how would i tell?

Can't smell any petrol when car running, plugged in my opcom reader and got p0115 which is coolant temp sensor. But the fault comes and goes as it pleases.

Did a bit of research and found the field remedy 2033, which consists of earthing the MAF & Coolant temp sensor earth wires, as the earth from ECU is rubbish.

Thinking this could be the problem, if not maybe the ECU?

Standard x18xe1 ecu, have 2 sets might give other 1 a try this week so what I get from £25?

Fuel reg is set at 55 psi which supposedly 3.8bar, it's as accurate as I can get it, cheap eBay jobbie.

Bear in mind mine was also gutted and running composite panels and plastic windows, so wasn't dragging a lot of weight around either.

Was just crap on fuel.

No idea, I stopped the old 'splash & dash' fuelling technique a long time ago

I always filled mine up, got around 160-200 miles from a tank...

Replaced the CTS which got rid of the EML but still really poor mpg, 30ltrs of petrol has gave me 117 miles :/

Blowing exhaust can't have a dramatic affect on mpg could it?

Any ideas?
