Can you get a program (Windows or DOS) that can tell you the type of RAM you have in your PC?

you most likely have the random access memory type

No you do not have read only memory type. That is non-existant.

sam have you got your motherboard model number at all? cause using the make&model you can find out what ram you can put in using http://www.crucial.com/uk

I know I have RAM and not ROM I was taking the piss...

That's a good point about the BIOS thing, might try that when I get home.

I installed Linux on a PC at a place I was working at a few years ago, what a fucking pain in the ass that was to set up! I prefer DOS & Windows myself!

Yeah SiSoft Sandra should tell you, if not then you could find your motherboard model and find out through that.

What CPU have you got, I may be able to give you an idea.
