As I'm going to be doing a few mods and general tidy up of this I thought I would start a thread.

So far the only mod has been upgrading to the 3 bar grille rather than the 5 bar one that was on the car and had been ruined by some stick on chrome strips

This week the private plate was removed and I got some nice shiny new plates which meant I could also get rid of the manky chrome numberplate surrounds, cleaned up up no end.

Todays job has been to remove the grills from the bumper as they where faded and chipped and get them painted up.

Between coats I managed to clean up the car and give it a quick coat of Super Resin while dodging the rain.

A few pics anyway..

Bumper grills removed

Grills before

After a few coats of PlastiKoat

The required snow foam shot

Super Resin going on

After (it had rained just as I finished the last panel)

Coilovers should be going on soon. Then it needs a machine polish after which I will wax it up with all my decent stuff, far to much effort to put on today though, had it SRP'd in half an hour

looks great. did you have to use primer with the plastikoat or did you just spray straight on to the grilles?

Didn't bother priming them, just flatted them and painted straight on.

I think plastikote is like plastidip, may be wrong though.
I never used primer on my side vents on the mini and its been on a year no problems with just black plastikote.
TT looks great, what wheels you got planned for it?

Wheels will probably just the same but refurbed. Don't want to stray to far from standard looking. It needs spacers though

The weather picked up so decided to head down to my mum and dads and refit the bumper grills.

Here's a shot of the car with the untouched front end..

And now..(need a new quattro badge for the grill)

Probably the cheapest easiest fixup mod I have ever done, paint only cost £7

And just a pic of it looking red and shiny

Fitted the coilovers today so sitting better now. Really needs some spacers though as the wheels are lost in the arches.

Running H&R on this can honestly say you wouldn't know it was lowered to drive it, no crashing over bumps and pot holes, very smooth and tbh, probably comfier that standard! Saturday I'll be off to demon tweeks to get it all tracked and camber setup.

Pictures aren't great, been a long day.

Also fitted me led side lights.

looks nice red tt's are so good! them wheels certainly need spacing right to the edge of the arch, should make it look pretty planted then.

Love these, and apparently handle really well??

Mates dad used to have an Evo FQ 300 and his mate had a TT around same power, TT used to leave it all the time on country roads. Although hes a great driver.

I think it handles pretty well, certainly wouldn't describe it as bad.

Chucked it about a bit on the way home after fitting them and it seemed to stick well enough and didn't give to much in body roll, haven't driven a lowered car for a good few years, felt good

looks ace

get some QS wheels as they have a lower offset, especially at the rear and will fill the arches nicely

Well, wheel alignment didn't happen Saturday as I was hanging from Friday night and couldn't hack the drive to tweeks :/

Booked in for Wednesday now. Only recent progress is the Quattro badge on the front being fitted and I gliptoned the seats on Sunday. Need to order some new pads then I'll be getting the machine polisher on it, really needs it as I'm constantly spotting swirls and scratches now.

Got a week off work and planning on giving the car the major clean up it needs.

Started today with a full APC snow foam and then spent a good while going over it with the clay bar, really needed it as the body work was like sandpaper

After a couple of hours it's looking great, normally after a clay I have found cars look worse as it removes and polishes or fillers but the TT looks much brighter and clearer.

Fingers crossed the weather stays dry tomorrow so I can get the machine polisher on it to get some real shine to it

Rubbish pic..

Made the most of the dry weather today and got the car machine polished and then followed up with my Werkstat polish / wax combo.

Sorry, wasn't being very Internet so didn't take many pictures as I knew I had a busy day ahead of me.

I'll try and get some decent pictures off the drive way later this week

Anyway, wasn't going for complete correction of the paintwork but I would say it's about 75% corrected. Few deep marks that I didn't want to go to far with and given more time I could probably improve it but tbh it's good enough for a daily drive and is a vast improvement on what it was like when I got it.

Few pics..

Before any machine work, rubbers taped up.

Few during / afters

Wheel refurb / new wheels definitely in the new year

Not a very interesting update but an update non the less...

PAS fluid has been leaking from the car since I got it, patched the crack with chemical metal a month or so ago but this caused a crack further down the pipe this week which resulted in my losing most of the fluid before work this morning Topped it up then headed off to see my mate with some cash to order me a replacement pipe from TPS for this weekend. Decided to fit it after work pre Saturday hangover..

Old rusty pipe

New pipe..shiny

Was done in about half an hour and apart from getting a face full of PAS fluid (tasty) it was a piece of piss, should of done it months ago instead of messing about patching it up

This weekends plan is to clean my engine covers up (which has been off since I bought it) and tidy the bay up...pics later this weekend hopefully...
