I would say for your set up just go for the SSD first as the thing that causes most bottlenecks in a PC is the hard drive.

Install Windows 7 on the SSD and you'll be good to go.

Never heard of them SSD's before. Think I might get one of them myself to increase the performance of my computer, sounds like it could just what I need too.

Does it just slot straight into the computer and thats it? Or would you need to buy a certain cable to go with it or something?

It's only the software that'll be slow so you can install that on the new C: drive (the SSD) and keep your music etc. on your old hard drive.

And Jamie they are normally 2.5" in size (as they are used for installing in laptops too) so if you have a desktop PC make sure the SSD you buy comes with an adapter to install it inside your PC (you can also buy them separately for a few quid).

get a blutooth keyboard and mouse, will be a bit more but shouldn't have the same issues.

I have already and they are rubbish!

Keyboards range is about 3 feet. Mouse about 4-5ft, but both are temperamental.

Ok so this be ok to store Windows 764bit and iTunes on, plus maybe photoshop.

Also how easy is it to install I have no issues folloing steps to install software and od partitions etc, but hardware i know zip about.

Yeah, that'll do the job.

If it's going in a PC it might need a 3.5" caddy/holder though.

Might be worth looking up a few reviews before purchasing just to see if there are any known issues with that model.

Ok Dom cheers.

Seems pretty simple to install. I am worried that I will need more than 90GB? Windows is pretty large i think. Dont want to have to upgrade then upgrade again.

Think i might get an additional 2gb ram as well.

Win7 is around 10-16GB, so if you stick to installing essential applications on the SSD and use your current drive(s) for everything else then you should be good.

For the sake of an extra £30 or so you could get a 120/128GB SSD drive.

I'd do that TBH.

Found a 128gb SSD cehaper Kingston one, which SATA cable is needed, they all talk of angles. I have a Dell upright standard size Desktop.

Also RAM, wheres best to buy? Only want 2gb or 4gb max.

A normal SATA 3 cable will do.

For RAM try Offtek ( http://www.offtek.co.uk ) or Crucial ( http://www.crucial.com/uk ) both very good.

If you tell me what model Dell Inspiron you have, I can see if I can get you better prices through my company.

501 doesn't come up with anything, is it a 531? That's what Google brings up when I also entered the CPU you've got as per your screenshot.
