Er, driving around hard tonight, leaving braking to the last possible second on a lot of corners, generally driving like a twat... Raced some Clio thingy around for a bit, braking from 120mph -> 40mph for a tight corner, done a few laps of this 'circuit' (no run off area, mess up and you're in an industrial estate building)... I then thought I'd let the car cool down a bit, parked up and had my foot resting on the brake pedal then POP, pedal hits the floor instantly, pumped a few times but it's as if a cable had snapped, there was no resistance what-so-ever, instantly hitting the floor every time...

Gotta jack her up tomorrow and see what's happened, I'm guessing a hose rubbing against the wheel, I've had my suspicions it had been happening before but could never find a way of making a hose reach the wheel. Maybe only when the suspension is compressed or something...

But yeah, I'm feeling pretty lucky, it's mad how it didn't go when anchored up proper from high speeds, but decides to go when resting my foot on the pedal... Any explanation for that?

Makes ya think though. I have had dreams about this kind of shit but always assumed it was one in a million etc.

Looked like it had been rubbing the copper pipe rather than the braided line, but was very hard to see

Isnt sitting with your foot on the brakes asking for pad deposits (or warped discs )

Is the fabia being broken and for sale now, or whats the plan?

Also, general question but do you race round an industrial estate (aka circuit?)

At a guess, wheel has rubbed through the pipe. Happened to me at Donington, no drama just changed the pipe and re-routed it so it wouldn't happen again.

Don't pump the pedal, you'll damage the master cylinder if it's got no load.

you asked why sitting with your foot on the brake would cause somthing to pop...

the extra heat transfer from roasting discs, into the pads then fluid would expand the fitting/pipe that popped a fraction.

That could have been all that was needed.

Heat soak when stopped is pretty high if discs are hot

How can you tell? I can't see if the internal vents are straight (would'nt matter a jot then) or curved (then it would matter). The grooves on the disc surface can face any way they want to.

That's the problem, he seems to keep getting lucky when driving like a clert and therefore isn't learning from it and continues to drive in a dangerous manner. I just hope the day his luck does run out, he doesn't take any innocent bystanders with him.

Sorry Mike but I'll put money on the fact that you're driven in what would be classed as a 'dangerous manner', the same as anyone else on here. Let's not start with the holier than thou stuff

Hilarious that xaos is calling someone else an attention seeker though if you 'should probably be dead' mate does that mean that i'm walking around on borrowed time because a 70kg pulley fell off and landed where I had been standing 30secs before? Get a grip nancy boy
