Up early this morning to prepare my tea (9am on a Sunday is early for me!)

So, full small chicken (not just any old chicken, an M&S chicken no less),

4 carrots, 2 white potatos, 2 sweet potatos, 2 onions, 2 x parsnips, 2 x chicken oxo, 1 x heap teaspoon of corn flour (Not sure if the stock will be thick enough/too thick!)

I wasn't sure if the chicken would fit, surprisingly there was a lot of room after to surround it by veg.

Keep an eye on your chicken carefully, I did one the other week and it did literally fall to pieces. That wouldnt have been a problem if it wasnt for the juices and liquid mixing up with the bones and entrails and making a disgusting black mess.

****

I've just done lamb hotpot with sweet potato topping,

500g diced lamb, 2 x onions, 3 x parsnips, 3 x cloves of garlic, 6 x carrotts, stock and enough sweet potato to layer the top

Will make some dumplings later to put in at the end and will try to take a pic or stick it on the facebook group

This is the first chicken I will have done. I normally do pork. I Googled it to see what other people were doing with chicken.

Chicken is really soft and just falls off. Veg is a little bit mushy if I'm honest. Could do with doing chicken again and either putting the veg in later or leaving it out.

Well it turns out the herb chicken with the butter on top is a lot more than a plain chicken.

For anyone interested, its a Sainsbury garlic basted whole chicken 1.35kg £5.

I did a chicken in the week
I love how the meat just extracts itself away from the bone
The spare ribs were the best!

Right. The gammon has gone in. Litre of apple juice and some cut up carrots and parsnips.

Question. Do you leave the paper that holds it together while it is in the slow cooker?

Just had brisket done in the slow cooker for dinner, absolutely immense. It's normally tough and chewy, this just broke up on the fork. My mouth is watering typing this

Gammon is out. Has been in the oven for the last 30 mins with some honey on top. Smells great.

Edit: anyone who might be wondering why I am faffing about with a gammon at 10pm its gonna be sandwiches for the week
