Must be an iPhone tethering app. Not sure but on my HTC you can do it as standard.

But can't do much else

Just jailbreak it, won't hurt it and can always reverse the process

If you are on the new simplicity tariff (if your out of you initial contract you should be as its way cheaper than the normal contract) then it includes otherwise its an extra bolt on.

Jailbreak and you can get it for free with something like PDANet same as any other android phone (and like them your breaking the terms of your contract)

Just jailbreak. I use MyWi all the time on my iPhone --> iPad 2 when out and about.

No point paying when you don't have to

I have an iPhone 4 on 3, and I can create a personal hotspot for free.

Didn't realise you had to pay for it on other networks, I assumed this was free with the latest iOS on all networks.
