When I swapped from my amazing Mk5 Fiesta to my average Leon Cupra R they didn't increase the price until my next premium update. This was many years ago.

Best bet is to phone them and ask.

Elephant/Admiral/Bell normally always charge an admin fee, I've been charged for almost every single change I've made with them.

The only way I can see them not charging a fee is if the car you changed to was less to insure, so they have really charged you, just not given a refund.

Unless they maybe spread it across the payments.

The cars have ranged from group 10e to 14 (old groups) and my insurance hasn't went up.Payments have all stayed the same.

I pay monthly, so not much chance of a refund.

I swapped from a Zetec S to my MPS and the difference I had to pay was a bit higher than normal I think but I was quite a bit into my policy so they had me by the nuts as I wanted to keep building that years NCB as it was my 1st one

Ask them how they came to that price then and quote the reference number of those quotes you've done. Haggle!

cancel and restart the policy if youre only 3 months in. if you tell them yorue cancelling due to getting a quote of £1257 they may try and match it if you dont tell them you actually got the quote from them.
if you do cancel you may get some money back anyway due to your deposit probably not spreading out over the rest of the period yet

I take it it was a different company who quoted you the cheaper price??

What i would do is start a new account with who ever you use to get your quotes from, and run a quote for the new car with the same details (different name and maybe your next door neighbours adresse).

Then see what quotes you get then.

When doing online quotes, your current insurer will never be in the list.

did you try telling them they themselves had already quoted you less? are you sure theres nothing different between the details they have fo you and the details you put in for the second quote?

Yer there was 1 thing different it's down in the garage on current policy

And on the Sri quote it's down as on the street road which is cheaper anyways don't know why though yer I told them and gave them the reference number and they still saying 600 don't know how they figure it out tried haggling them down but still 600

Might aswell wait until I get my 2 yr no claims bonus and get the 1.8 Sri rather than get the 1.4

Nope, only if the premiums gone up (Vectra SRi 2.2 to Clio 172) it went up £80 and was spread out over the remaing months, got a 1.8 Mondeo after that and the monthly payment went down, not once paid an admin charge.

If the premium goes up you don't normally get charged, if it goes down they'll just take the charge out of the amount they reduce it.

It's rare for them to genuinely not charge.

Other companies don't have an admin charge at all.

Ive been with umpteen companies over the years, and everytime i have been charged, it clearly states it when the new documents come through.Regardless if the premium has went up or down.It has always been a seperate charge.

And the admin fees have ranged between £25-£40.
