The rear 'anti roll bar' on a corsa isn't a true anti roll bar anyway.

Fitting the Whiteline uprated RARB thingy is the single best thing you can change on a Corsa B, It transforms the way it drives.

exactly a proper works racing car, i dont doubt the theory or its use in proper application but bolting to to a road car that does a track day or two on shit tyres is pointless imo

Back on topic, from what I have read of it, it seems to be down to preference, as with many set up changes.

Rear ARB makes a massive difference on most VAG cars.

It's not the same as a RARB, those braces on a Corsa beam would primarily reduce the amount of roll on the trailing section of the beam. Meaning you can more consistent camber under lateral load.

It will bend to some degree before traction is lost. All that beam does is reduce the amount of deviation from the original set up in that circumstance.

Probably only useful if camber is already adjusted and you want to make that setting more consistent in use.

Looks like a good idea to me. A RARB helps but i think that those arms would be better. Hard cornering would cause a rear beam to 'toe out' effectivly so that would reduce that.

And to Steve etc. the reason why people do these things to thier cars is because they want to! Yeah sure its a road car and they arnt gonna be copeting in the BTCC any time soon but if someone whats to spend their time/money doing something they enjoy then let them.

Just because you took your car to the ring and did some track days dosent mean your suddenly a motorsport engineer.

did you seriously just say those arms would benefit more then a rarb

edit: agreed they would be better at preventing beam flex then a RARB but a RARB will do nothing to help beam flex its a completely different thing, which aids completely different chassis movements


not sure even why RARB is being compared to these things in the first place

Dont understand how its not the same as the antiroll bar mod, there is a massive reduction in the amount of flex in the Corsa rear beam with extra bar fitted.

cant see that adam the arb is essentially a torsion bar its meant to bend under load if the beam is bending inwards i cant see how an ARB is going to stop it

arb just reduces how much the bar pivots between the two suspension points either side

These bars stop/reduce flex in the beam laterally, arbs reduce flex in the beam in a vertical plane.

One is acting in torsion, the other a lateral force.

tbh

There are loads of aftermarket braces and bits of metal for a mk 1 golf to strengthen things up, cars have come a long way since then, imo its an old skool thing to do to old skool cars.

Maybe an old Nova or corsa has a cheap rear beam and could benefit from more bracing
