I'd say it's a step up from playing with action figures...

agree. The bad guy looks stupid

I prefer the old Batman film with Keaton to the new ones. They try too hard.

I see what you're saying; it's like the Bond films with Brosnan, just straight forward light-hearted action films. Although the new Batman's are far from terrible, rather they're an entirely different type of film to previous.

Still can't wait to see this though

The last batman was that far ahead of the other films they don't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence.

It made the previous films look like pisstakes tbh.

Tim Burton is an overly theatrical director who doesn't know the word "subtle".
That works for some films, but also makes the two first Batman films look like something made specifically for children. There's never a real sense of suspense and you're never fully engaged in the characters.

But it's okay for a 1989 to not hold its ground in 2012. And Batman certainly doesn't, it simply hasn't aged well.

The Nolan films attack the subject on a much grander scale that gives you a true sense of realism even when realism is thrown completely out the window.

However, I'm pretty sure Burton actually came up with the idea of a black suit for Batman, so we should credit him for that, at least.

There is very little to elaborate on. I owned all the previous batman's on VHS and watched them numerous times as I was growing up. They were immature and on a much, much smaller scale than The Dark Knight. Which was a multi-faceted grand scale epic in comparison with the films which it followed.

That being said films are subjective but either way there is no disputing the fact the general consensus is it was the best Batman film by miles. Hence the reason the film which is following it has such hype surrounding it.
