Could you have 2 boxes using 1 line if you only used 1 at a time.

Sky box in bedroom is rarely if ever on at the same time as the living room.

From what I've seen so far it'll just be 1 box checking from an IP, can't see how they'd know any different.

Must report the MAC address as well.

I mean if you wanted two tuners, say one watching live TV whilst another is recording a different channel.

Pretty sure you need another line though.

EDIT: The Vu boxes look like they support most/all the addons that Dreambox do, any reasons to choose Vu over Dreambox?

Vu was just cheaper.

If you need 2 lines for a dual tuner setup that's a bit shit tbh.

That would put me off a bit.

Some of the servers say no extra cost for dual tuner, would just have to go with them.

Seems you don't need two lines but line 'admins' usually know if you've got a twin or triple tuner;

What's the deal with the Duo clone? Is it the similar to other clones where it's the 'same' but uses RS232 rather than USB for flashing/control?

There is also the Dreambox 7025 which i've seen stupidly cheap (£100 mark; no idea if the website was legit) but you need to purchase the second DVB-S2 tuner on top.
Really struggling to find dual+ tuner boxes though. Duo and the 7025 seem to be the old two i know of/can find.


As for second lines, there's a thread on CS-Kings where a load of people were complaining about getting kicked/banned due to using more than one line (although i've read that some single-tuner boxes use multiple lines anyway) and that providers aren't listing information or prices regarding multi-tuner boxes. General consensus seems to be that you should ask providers what their policy is.

Apprently you get kicked/banned because the [standard] software running on the 'servers' automatically detects it and takes action.

People that 'support' mutli-tuners must have them set up different or a higher benchmark before it takes action (i.e. kick ban)

Seemed that the only difference was the rs232 flashing. I read something else saying that it was only until you got the custom firmware on then you could use USB. I could deal with rs232 for 100 quid, after the original pissig about you won't need it too often.

It's only £3 for a RS232-USB cable anyway!

Are you sure? The first guide of how to set a box up was wrote by someone who said they used on as they had a laptop which didn't have the 232 port.

Oh I was reading about the Dreambox when I came across the guy with the RS-232-USB cable.

Even so, strange that it's like that. I would just have to ask someone with a old machine or get a PCI card for the Microserver.

I think the Vu boxes will be the choice though if they're cheaper (appears they run the same plugins as Dreambox).

Do you need a fast reliable internet for this to work?
I only get 1mb max but sometimes it goes down to 0.1 for a couple of days

Can anybody recommend a motorised dish to buy?
Im more interested in watching just uk and us channels

I have 1.5mbps, works fine, the only time it stutters is if you're downloading files/streaming at the same time.

Got it and it works.

Got a test line set up and not too bad so far.

Can't get ESPN or the Sky Movies HD channels to work, I'm not sure if that's just the channel list I'm using or not, says no signal.

Looks quite good otherwise but the interface is shit compared to sky, will definitely need a better box for the living room.
