Ah are those the up and down shift?

I though you might still have got the normal one for up shifting and those were just for shifting down.

I'm about to go SRAM for the first time.

Fancy the Boardman Comp from Halfords



The SRAM doubletap shifters are certainly different though!

Thumb shift on the right side is for shifting up, brake leaver for shifting down.

I have a Giant bike in my shed thats got a much better shifters.

Did 20 miles on the spesh on the turbo trainer earlier, then been cleaning up and working on the fixie this afternoon
I must admit I've looked at those boardmans and they are quite nice bikes

Yup.. I just love all the seemless welds on them.

I'll be upgrading the wheels on that one as they're about 1kg each.. and buying a carbon seat tube and thats it I think.

Which turbo trainer do you have? Been thinking about getting one for the 80% of the year its raining up here.

Yeah I've been looking at some lighter wheels, and then wiggle just sent me an e-mail saying they're doing 20% off wheels or something... must resist temptation!
Ummm it's a volare elite mag or something, from halfords, best piece of kit I've ever bought, it's certainly helping me get more mileage in!

Do you have a Decathlon near you Alex?

I bought a mountain bike from there that I use to get to work on.

Shimano shifters, derailleurs and brakes.. I just changed the tyres in favour of some skinnier, slicker jobs and it runs pretty good.

Fair enough its no where near as light as a road bike but its at least comfortable!

Edit: Only cost £160 aswell..

Mines lovely, really quick off the line, I usually bomb off quicker than cars at traffic lights, just has a low top end speed. Takes some getting used to that you can't coast though.

I've had one of these for about three months now and I find it incrediable to ride. The SRAM double tap system is very very easy to use and you always seem to be in the right gear all of the time. I do a 13 mile commute to work and used to take about 50 to 60 mins to do it on my old bitza bike. (part mountain bike part hybrid lump of shit) I've got the down to 40 minutes straight away on the Spesh.

All my mates who have had a go love it some have even swapped over from shimano groupsets.

In a token answer to the OP don't do what I and many others have done and buy a cheap ass bike, take the plunge and buy something half decent it saves you money in the long run. Oh and haggle for a better price then haggle for intrest free credit if you haven't got the money upfront.
