Thin Red Line: 5.9/10

Tries to hard to be deep, too many monologues and sultry images of grass in the sun and idyllic sun scenes. That I don't have an issue with but all of them felt shoe horned in for the sake of it, story line was dosjointed and I'll paced. Great actng in parts and some beautiful scenes. They should have fired the editor and re cut it I bet it would be ace.

Lets be cops - 5/10. Decent enough film but wouldn't pay for it.

The Interview - 8/10. Honestly, can see why kim jong un would get upset. He gets ruined

guardians of the galaxy 9/10. Really enjoyed it. Saw the original, thought it was a heap of shit.

Gone girl 9/10. Fantastic film until the ending, which is shit. Was expecting something dramatic, but nothing. Every lads worst nightmare

There was a film called guardians of the galaxy on TV about a month ago. As it was called by exactly the same name and featured the same sort of alien life forms, i guessed it was the original version.

Altar (The Haunting of Radcliffe House) - 5/10

Family move in to old English mansion to renovate it for a client. The house slowly takes over the husband and ghosts randomly appear and terrorise the children. Thats pretty much it and after the daughter convinces the mother that they need to leave it pretty much to fizzles out. Better than your average TV movie but it makes me wonder why Matthew Modine felt he needed to be in it.

The Hobbit : The Battle of the Five Armies -

I was dubious heading in to the cinema to see this, I just couldn't see how this last segment of the book could fill a 2 hour film. It started off right where it needed to and Smaug flying over the town looked spectacular. Nice to see Christopher Lee too, even if it was his face superimposed! The battle scenes were epic and the cinematography during these scenes was perfect. There are still a few elements I'm not sure have been depicted as in the book and the battle certainly filled up screen time where there was no dialogue. Overall it was enjoyable and I felt the same as I did when I got to the end of RotK in that I was wanting more as you do feel like you have been on a journey yourself with these films, but my opinion has not changed that they could have made two really good epic films without any filler, or Orlando Bloom.

As a stand alone film - 8/10
Because I have read the book - 7/10

The Inbetweener 2- 8/10 decent enough with some good laughs

Frozen 8.5/10 good film again, enjoyed it more than I should have

Born on the 4th July- 8/10. Again decent film, preferred platoon but then again completely different films. I watched it on ITV4, and couldn't help feel the navy recruitment advert halfway through was a little misplaced given the tone of the film

Captain America : The Winter Soldier - 6/10

I watched the first film twice as thought it deserved a second chance. I still didn't think it was up to much, but I like the character of Captain America and Chris Evans plays the part well. After seeing the Avengers (which I liked) I started watching this with the same enthusiasm. The storyline was a bit confusing, but once I got passed that I have to say the car chase involving Fury and the police was brilliant. As with the other stand alone Marvel films I think they have not done any the justice they deserved, shame as the special effects/CGI has been first class. Hopefully the second Avengers film will be better.

This is how I rate the stand alone Marvel films -

Blade (1998) - 9/10
Blade II (2002) - 7/10
Spider-Man (2002) - 8/10
Daredevil (2003) - 5/10
Hulk (2003) - 7/10
Blade : Trinity (2004) - 6/10
The Punisher (2004) - 5/10
Spider-Man 2 (2004) - 8/10
Elektra (2005) - 4/10
Ghost Rider (2007) - 5/10
Spider-Man 3 (2007) - 7/10
Punisher : War Zone (2008) - Not seen
Iron Man (2008) - 6/10
The Incredible Hulk (2008) - 6/10
Punisher : War Zone (2008) -
X-Men Origins : Wolverine (2009) - 6/10
Iron Man 2 (2010) - 6/10
Captain America : The First Avenger (2011) - 5/10
Thor (2011) - 5/10
Ghost Rider : Spirit of Vengeance (2012) - Not seen
Iron Man 3 (2013) - 6/10
Thor : The Dark World (2013) - 5/10
The Wolverine (2013) - 7/10
Captain America : The Winter Soldier (2014) - 6/10

Hopefully Deadpool will be better.

Watched a few on cartoonhd website over the last couple of days stuck at work

Fury- 9/10 thought it was brilliant

Million Ways to die in the old west 6/10 Not as funny as thought it would be, the cameos were funnier than the acutal main story

Xmen days of future past 7/10 would have been 9 if the time travelling part made no sense (for time travel in movies i mean)

The Guest - 5/10 - Like the retro aspect of the film but the storyline is a bit piss poor and i generally don't understand how or why it's rated so highly.

Horrible Bosses 2 - 3/10 - Very few laughs and gags; certainly isn't a patch on the first. Only a three because of Aniston

The Monuments Men - 7/10

Not bad. Few slow bits and could have been a bit better by showing more looting of art/monuments.

Spike Island - 5/10

Bit meh really. Story about a group of school kids in an aspiring band who want to see The Stone Roses at Spike Island. Take away The Stone Roses element (the bands music is played throughout) and there isn't much there to keep you hooked. The film tried to have a moral message and coming of age element at the end but for the previous 90 minutes it relied too heavily on the bands name.

Can you stop throwing 9s around willy nilly. A 9 is a near perfect future/previous classic. The lego movie is not that. It may be a good film but that doesn't make it a 9.
