the new one will probably be a 4S, a5 chip form the iPad 2, and better camera.

I know that Russ I bought it last year. As I wasn't fussed by the camera on the 4.
I'm in no rush though so will probably wait to see the specs of the 4s/5 etc

my 3gs is 18 months old, just gonna stick with that i think and go on to sim only tarriff. could do without a £45/month bill while im at uni

good plan, iOS 5 will probably work on 3gs, so if you can live without the better camera then might aswell keep it

thats what will sway it, if i cant use the new os then theres a reason to upgrade. i can see there being some kind of reason os5 will only work on an iphone 5

Doubt that as iOS 5 is out next month and iPhone 5 won't be for another 6 months.

he doesnt. iPhone 5 has a rumoured September launch, to tie in with the iPod refresh, other rumours saying that it's November.
iOS 5 will come out when it's good and ready

that was my point. i still reckon the next iphone will be out in june/july same as the last 4. rumours of a september release will suit apple as people will keep buying iphone 4's for 2 months rather than waiting for the next one
