id go for the 2.0 instead of the turbo, but its just personal preference - u also have to think about the cost of each.
2.0 conversion - 1500 quid +
2.0 turbo conversion - 3k +
if u get the right engine conversion fitted, then these engines will last for 150k + if looked after

talkin about conversions, what you think to a power boost valve on a 2.0? i know the disadvantage of these are that they can affect throttle, can be lethargic,or affect slow drive

Can get plenty more than that! Stage 4 upgrade is 370bhp, plus whatever more ££ u put at it.

2.0litre, bored to a 2.1 on TB will beat a 2.0litre turbo. It also sounds MUCH better than any dump valve!

So
2.0litre 16v
Cheaper
More reliable
less parts needed
just as tunable and just as fast
Sounds FAR better with Throttle bodies
Looks better with Throttle Bodies

TB win hands down!

Someone mentioned turbo lag? turbo lag is almost non existant on std turbos, its only when you upgrade to something the size of a T4 that you get hella turbo lag. Most standard turbo'd cars have either a T2 or a T25 sized turbo - i.e. very small, these hardly have any turbo lag at all, they tend to spin up over 500Rpm which is probably less than half a second.
I've had/got a turbo'd car so the attraction of having a dump valve isn't a factor for my choice of engine (having already got a nice, loud collins twin piston dump valve). It seems that a 2.0l 16v on throttle bodies is the ultimate engine to go for. The proof that throttle bodies are better (in this case) is in the Redline Corsa vs Saxo day. The fastest cars of the day were all Corsas on throttle bodies - despite there being supercharged VTS's and Corsa 2.0L turbos there. Lucky B's being the fastest of the day - 2.1L 16v on 42mm throttle bodies 0-60 in 4.9 seconds!! and a 1/4 mile time convincingly faster than an Impreza or Evo could do! (13.2 seconds). Lucky B's awsome times are down to two things mainly, his 250Bhp rally tunned engine but more importantly, his limited slip diff. Power is nothing without control.
