I'd love one, if I didn't do so many miles getting to work I would have one on the drive.

Trying to persuade my brother to buy one, that'll do me for now

I reckon it's safer. I nearly crashed as I "forgot" to change gear at a critical time.

Smg you never move hands from the wheel and keep eyes on the road. Never break concentration. I want

The smg has a lot of problems tho. The amount of posts on them on cutters speaks for itself.

Plus manual is more of a drivers car

SMG is a coventional 6 speed box with hydraulic slaves. SMG just gets bad press as people love going to BMW and getting their asses raped.

I'd rather an SMG any day

Yes but its not always the pump is it?

Can be a number of things such as Salmon relay, clutch, compression springs are usual culprits.

I've also read that they need to be updated using the latest software all the time.

Just to many things go wrong with them for my liking and as Tom said when they go wrong it's nearly always big £££

Just get a decent one with warranty then & it wont cost you a button!!

Bought my M3 for 17.5k & sold it for 16.5k, only had to replace 2 tyres & a battery in 18 months 10k miles!! If you buy cheap, high miles without any warranty then be prepared to replace bits as with anything else!!

I always consider the fact the car was 50k+ once upon a time so its to be expected. When you get a 400+ bill from a 5k shopping car thats a difficult pill to swallow!

The smg is more of a drivers option if you are after the fastest times.

Think would miss the clutch tho. Hmmmm
