Everyone seems to run 15" 195/50/15 but I have two sets of 14" spare wheels in the garage?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/185-60-14-YOKOHAMA-A048-R-TRACKDAY-TYRE-1856014-2-TYRES-/170520125261?pt=UK_Cars_Tyres_RL&hash=item27b3ca9f4d

£195 for a set as well.

I had pair of R888s in 14" on my red Nova and 4x A048 in 14" on my blue Nova, both big block too and handled fine.

Only reason I'm going 15" because there is better choice for road tyres, I've still got a pair of R888s which I'm going to put on some steelies and use on the drag strip when my car is finished

I think this is a much better idea, set of black 14" GSi rims with R888's on

More tyre wall tho.

Be better with 15" wheels, you can fit better brakes behind in the future.

But, from what I've seen usually people run high poundage springs with these kind of tyres, something to do with heat.

R888's have a softer side wall compared to the Yoko equivilant.

So with a higher side wall the tyres will heat upeven more quicker because of the flex but will then overheat much quicker too. Thus losing grip and ending up in the barrier.

tyre wall height will actually be quite similar as its a ratio of the width, which is slightly less being 185, and thats the only bit you’ll loose out on, contact patch width, but it wont be noticeable tbh

on yokos data sheet the 15 has a rolling circumference of 1749mm and the 14 is 1699, width 15 is 202 14 is 197, diameter 15 is 574 and 14 is 557 so from that the sidewall will be near identical

Hmm I didn't realise you could get r888's in 14's
Think I may keep the gsi wheels as track wheels

You got a plan for brakes? If they'll fit then the 14 wheel/tyre should also be a little lighter.

Your be alright then.

Mine was all standard setup with M1144 and better discs. And it stopped fine when I had material left on the pads, unlike at Bedford.
