What is white smoke from the exhaust
recently its constant and i have my m.o.t tomorrow and thinking it may fail emmsisions ?
it does it when its cold and warm

head gasket on the way out. the white smoke is water being burnt off (almost like steam) check your oil see if its creamy on the cap or stick, and also check water levels. losing water? black/orangy water?

oil is fine, have lost water and seems to be orange

Does it only do it when it's cold outside? Orange water is rust

ye its gotten worse these past few days as its getting colder, but the smoke is constant even when the car warms up ?

yes its running fine, not overheating not missfiring the oil is fine no creamy mayo

x20xevs r common for this, i wouldnt worry about it, my brothers has been like this all the time for 3 years and still fine.

Usually if its the HG there will be PLUMES of steam coming out and you would not want to drive it.

mines started doing this aswell from sinse its been cold, also does it when cold and when its warm. theres white smoke constantly and my mot is in 2 week, let us know how you get on

When it's cold you see the steam condensing as it exits the exhaust pipe

Unless you've got mayo or you're loosing water then the HG diagnosis is web forum bollocks.

Used to find I had even more on the decatted cars I've had

As ed has said, its probably just the condesation due to cold weather If it has only done it since being cold outside.

My other half's V6 always has steam from the exhaust these days even when the engine is warm (coolant levels are fine, no mayo etc.) it's just because it's fucking freezing outside!
