no idea. tried to start it wouldn't start, heard a metal noise. opened it up , there was a chunk of metal on top of the piston must have come from the recon head , cracked the piston and destroyed below the piston head. ripped a couple of chunks out of the bore aswell , hence the new bottom end.

finally did some work building the engine up today. started stripping bits off the old block still in the car and fitted the pistons with new rings.

piston cleaning process:

putting the first one in

and all four

ended up using my 3 original pistons from the old block and one from this as mine were in much better condition. plans over the next week are to really get cracking on this, get the new head fitted and get the old block out of the car

Get the block face cleaned up a bit better, get the best possible seal then.

If you want a hand getting the old one out/new one in, Let me know, I'm gagging to work on a simple corsa again.

little update. engines coming together slowly, partly due to being so cold and because i havent bothered.

new crank seal on a freshly painted oil pump

cleaning up the alternator bracket

pistons all bolted in and sump back on.

bottom end is now done, just looking to rent a engine crane for the weekend to take out the old lump and get this one in.

also bought this off ebay mega cheap for the splitter. fogs and bumper are for sale, bumpers isnt that clever, needs a repaint and has a few holes at the sides. looks like the pervious owner had screws there!?

Can easily remove the old engine and fit the new one, without a engine hoist!
