its the idea the beam will bend forwards n backwards under force as its only designed to resist force in the left / right compression and extension

bollocks if u ask me, but i see the reasoning

They'd be better to an eyelet on the floor dude where the old belts went. Wont look half as tidy as to the rear strut brace though!

You probably wont notice the tank being the far back handling wise, hope its going to do the odd trackday too man x

They MAY be perfectly safe but would be 110% safe bolted to the part of the shell where there designed to be. Ben knows its not a dig the silly cunt is always up for some constructive criticism.

I'd prefer them on the brace tbh. Really they're supposed to be mounted higher up, ie. level with the harness holes in the seat or at most, 10 degrees downwards. The brace is already more of an angle than that. Looks sturdy enough, I'm guessing the tube is CDS?

alot of cars race with harnesses to a bar like that just they are not bolt in,

Belts look fine to me assuming you're using high tensile fastenings and they're appropriately spread with big washers inside the arch.

I wouldnt be worried about handling with the tank that far back id be worried about if someone hit me up the arse and it crushes the tank and petrol goes everywhere . Then anything could happen . Was it not an issue when being motd ?

mine are on rear brace although it is part of the cage structure on mine so all of its welded in.

Sorry i still dont think that strut brace is a remotely suitable point to run harnesses from

the fixings are what? m10? m12? the metal flanges are also extremely thin for that kind of load, do a google search for inertia forces an average weight body exerts even at low speed. Then you have the fact that load will me multiplied up because the harnesses are in the middle of that beam.

The bar isnt the problem, that looks strong enough, its the fixing to the car and the flanges on the bar, as barnes said his is welded in so would be more appropriate? as someone else said also that bar is meant to take side load not forward, there was a youtube vid of someone trying to pull a skoda out a ditch by a tow rope on a strut brace, it just collapsed like cheese.

saying that i do love the car its fantastic, i just feel strongly about this kind of stuff taking shortcuts on stuff which is meant to save your life

i think its great and welldone for sticking with it and getting it on the road. Alot of people would just give up halfway through the build imo.

Awesome awesome car and a credit to you for doing most of the work yourself.

But, imo, those wheels don't suit being a dark colour. Not just on your car but on any car. I reckon they would look amazing in silver.

Pretty sure there is a pic somewhere of a red Gsi XE with silver Cav Turbo wheels and it looks immense. Been about for a few years. Think its that guy from V-Tuning that has it.
