Author Non airbag steering wheel boss on an airbag model?

Hello all. I have a new steering wheel for my car which has a non airbag model boss on it but my car is an airbag model, now i know the airbag boss has a bypass thing to cut the airbag light out but i was wondering if the non airbag boss would fit straight on and i could take the bulb out of the dials to stop it being on all the time. Or is it a case of having to buy a new boss kit? Cheers Scott
