Do like the pic then, just seems alot of work unbolting the shocker to get to the 4 bolts when you can just undo the one hub nut.

dont need to unbolt the shock to get to it, can do it with the beam still attached to the shock had them four bolts off the other day to fit the axle spacers and replace the rear abs sensor, easy enough to get them out, however i didnt know if the drum splits with just them out

Id just tighten the hub nut to FT setting before I fucked about unbolting stub axels

Do it up tight, the split pin will stop it from coming un-done. The biggest risk is killing the bearing by over tightening it.

yeah thats what i said before, and why i would want to do it with a torque wrench, which is why i was investigating this alternative method

The 4x 17mm's on the back is the easiest way to remove ford drums..

However, I always undo the 30mm hubnut as the stub axle can be awkward to realign when your on your back.

ha dto realign it when i took the drum assembley off before so its not to bad.

So just undo the 4 bolts and the drum should pull apart?

I've done that. Resulted in the rear bearing going bang when I was driving at 60mph and bits welding each other together in the process

Its pretty difficult to overtighten a solid bearing though.
Unlike corsa b tapered bearings.
