its a complete ass of a job, i would love to see somone actually do it in 20 mins, best way i found was to remove it with the egr cooler and replace the valve on the bench.

Yeah 20 mins, 15 if you're quick.

Its a shit job to do, main problem is getting the torx bolts out from underneath as there is fuck all room. I hope I never do one again in my life.

lol it may be possible on a brand new engine or similar but in reality you have to be dreaming to think its as easy as that

edit looking at joes comment maybe i should have another gung ho go then, altho the thought of having to do another one makes me cringe

EGR`s are a bad idea on diesels imo, I have to take mine to bits and clean it every service, gets coked up with shite, mine doesnt do it that bad, some peoples on FF are a total joke

well the fiat engines are what you were just working on monster... the 1.3 1.7 and 1.9 are fiat engines..

they are utter rubbish, do easily 50x the ammoun of derv egr valves than i do petrol ones, really stuipid idea

A good mates on the armed forces and based down south (kent)! He only drives home at the weekend on the motorway so you would think his wouldnt get cloggged up at all (its the astra sport hatch 1.9 cdti)...his car has done 30k! He has had to take it off, clean it all (it went into limb mode), then after a few thousand miles it did it again and he had to replace it. Very poor!

wonder if its had the self clean rework? did he do the valve himself? they only really get problems when they have dpf too

my 175k mile derv hasnt had any trouble with egr. ever.


and on the 1.3cdti, unless the engine has changed, theyre a right cunt to do

AA man did it because it broke down. He did the valve himself. Its just ran out of warrenty!
