The actaul locking nut key has sheered. These are vauxhall locking nuts, but don't have the code to get another jey made.


Was easiest way getting them off? Heard about smashing smaller socket on, but the bolt is round so will be alot more difficult, any ideas?

So have 4 bolts to remove:/

I assume you mean the bolt holding the covers on? Just use some snipe nose pliers or a decent set of large side ways circlip pliers.

Take it to a half decent wheel place (I.e. not Kwik Fit), as they should have the correct kind of sockets to remove them without damaging your wheels

No sorry, I meant the main wheel bolts not the covers

Cheers ideally woudl like to do at home, got all kinds of tools in the garage, but not sure on the process, and not much money to pay someone. Thnaks

when this happened to me a place welded a bar to the nut and turned them off, locking wheel nuts can gtf tbh, didnt do anything to the alloy but it can burn some slightly

to do it at home you will need to have the tools the wheel place has, just take it to them, they wont charge a lot to remove one bolt

So you want to undo locking wheel BOLTS and the fact the wheels are Cesaros bares no relevance

You can either smash on a high tensile socket (if you've got room and they arent sleeved locking bolts):

otherwise you need to go speak to a garage who have got some threaded locking wheel bolt removers.

I used a dremel with a 1" cutting disc on and cut a slot down the middle and undone it with a large flat head screwdriver (lots of swearing is a must for this part)

I mentioned cesaros, as i think it does have relavnce, alot easier access to bolts, allowing more tools to be used

Locking wheel nut removal tool. Basically screw it onto the remaining nut the opposite way (left) and then as you undo it the tool digs onto the remaining nut and undoes it. only problem is then removing the nut from the tool. Id check the tool fits first aswel as when it happened on a set of speedlines we couldnt get the tool round the nut far enough

I done this to four as I bought a car with locking bolts on and didn't get the key ....

mole grips clamped on the screwdriver at an angle really helps

Thats the other problem, I could smash a socket on, and maybe get one bolt out, but then the soket is stuck on the bolt

We do quite a few at work. Usually weld on a 13mm bolt onto the locking bolt, then undo with a 13mm socket.

What type of lockers are they??

Had this problem with my Honda(no relevance to your problem tho as the lockers will have been different) and i tried both the smashing a socket on and got hold of a set of removers but both were useless.In the end had to just chisel them off.Was a right cunt of a job.

I have always banged a socket on then when it's off put it in a vice and yank it off. Heat up the socket with a blow torch to make it expand if it's not coming off. If you can wait I'll do it when you bring it in at the end of the month

Getting the socket off is easy, once the bolt starts coming lose, do it back up lightly and wiggle of the socket off, then push it back on lightly and undo it again.

They are genuine Vaux ones, but i don't knwo the number for key, I can't see them letting me try 50 different ones why they wait?
