this is all it says in the haynes manual.

These areas of glass are secured by the tight fit of the weatherstrip in the body aperture, and are bonded in position with a special adhesive. The removal and refitting of these areas of fixed glass is a difficult, messy and time-consuming task, which is considered beyond the scope of the home mechanic. It is difficult, unless one has plenty of practice, to obtain a secure, waterproof fit.

Furthermore, the task carries a high risk of breakage; this applies especially to the laminated glass windscreen. In view of this, owners are strongly advised to have this sort of work carried out by one of the many specialist windscreen fitters, or a vauxhall/opel dealer.

In my opinion mate, you can do it on the insurance for a £20 excess i think.

if ur insurance doesnt cover it get someone else to fit it!!! i broke mine in me astra phoned auto windscreens or someone like that it was 230quid or something

got a new windscreen from a supplier 50 quid, and got it fitted for 40quid!!!! grand job, but it is fairly specialised, u don't won't it leakin and remember in a crash the windscreen is designed to transfer a lot of pressure into the roof and crumple zones!!!

GET IT DONE RIGHT!!!!!

right, first off get a new window seal. u'll need it.

next, get a stanley knife and go round the under edge of the seal between it & the window. when done you can then pull the top of seal from around the window.

then window will now just push out with very little effort.

its now usually advisable to rust protect the metal edge of the car where the window sits.

with the window out, put the new seal round the window.

get a piece of decent thick cord and run it all the way round the channel on the seal, and tie it in a loose bow at the bottom

place the window back on the car, the ends of the loose bow should be visable inside the car.

get a friend to apply a firm pressure while you gently pull one end of the cord from the start right the way round the windscreen till you get to the end. this effectly pulls the otherside of the seal into the car.

its a tad harder to describe, but not hard to do in real life!
