How big is the L/R?

Edit!

Lounge: 13'10" x 11'3" (4.22m x 3.43m)

50" is gonna be far to big imo

Agreed, you wont be sitting far enough away from it for a start as well as it overpowering the room. Get a better 42" or use the money elsewhere(surround sound).

Well I know plenty folk with massive TV's in not so massive rooms & they look alright, not out of place, just a massive presence which is fine with me as a TV & couch is all I want of a living room!!

I cant find it anywhere online but I thought I'd seen something that said as a guide to how far back you should be sat from the tv you get the height of the tv and times it by 3... sounds about right from going off the position of the TV in my room, my mums living room and my dads living room. If you get too big a TV for how close you are sitting it might look a bit pixelated?

Im mega short sighted anyway so usually end up right in front of it. If I get a big one my comfort distance might see me on the couch

Doesnt matter on the size of the room unless its an absolute box, just get the biggest TB you can fit on to the wall.

I bought the Pioneer Kuru KRP-500A (50") and it really is top notch stuff. I paid £2.5k for it a while back and due to them being discontinued, I think you can get them for 2k if thats your sorta budget.

I cant recommend them enough, if you look around on the net, they're still highly regarded as the best consumer TVs on the market.

You can save a bit of money if you dont want the seperate reciever, i.e everything plugged into a connection box underneath, it simply reduces the plasma thickness.

The contrast ratio is so ridiculously high, pioneer havent been able to quote it.

Very much so....
It took me about a day, and now when I visit the parents with a 42" it really does look small.

My Dad made it for me, he's a joiner. So custom job if you wanted one like it, I think he said it would be pretty expensive though as quite a lot of man hours to make
