But I think im missing the point with this detailing lark. Having cars like that i'd want to be out enjoying them not keeping them wrapped up been wasted. Its alright giving them a good clean and a polish but i think that this detailing is going way too far now.

Point taken, but my car is used daily, and is definatley used/enjoyed in the way its designed for. But at the same time I like to look after it and keep it in the best condition possible. The whole point of me getting this detail was to get the car back to perfect condition. Now its in perfect condition it will stay there and hopefully I won't need to have another £500 detail done.

ffs "detailing" is getting out of hand

these folk really need to turn it down a notch

its bee going on for years and years ? it hasnt just become anal now

people have been drying their cars with leaf blowers for years?

not round here they havent if i seen someone doing that i'd smack them round the head with a 100% pure dead sea sponge then strangle them with a microfibre waffle weave cloth

I've known about using leaf blowers/compressers for drying for years.

I am looking to get mine done eventually, and as Ben said I will definetly still be using my car properly, few trackdays here and there. If you spend thousands on a car the least you can do is keep it looking presentable so I think it's all money well spent. As long as you are still willing to put the effort in to keep it that way the finish will last for ages

looks nice but still £500!

I bet he used a pointless paint depth guage that only detailers use to charge you double the price though?

Don't see how a paint gauge is pointless. If i was gonna have a go at the paintowrk on someone elses pride and joy with the aim of removing as many imperfections as possible, i'd wanna know just how much paint i had to play with to.

Looks good (not sure if its because its sat under all those lights) but theres no way in hell i'd pay someone 500 quid to stick some product on my car. I like a clean car but to me it doesnt represent value.

using a dual action polisher would remove next to fuck all microns of paint and even a rotary with the head and products you would remove nearly nothing!!!

Overated and personally never used one, even on some cars worth a few hundred k.

And I would love to know the breakdown in the bill!! How much an hour does he charge?

People spend way more then 500 quid on stuff like ice and bodykits. Whats the point?

At least keeping the car in tip top condition will make it better come selling time.

Thats it mate. I wouldnt pay £500, but i'd still spend a couple of hundred maybe. But then I would only get £200 worth of detailing, whereas you got £500 pounds worth

if someone can afford something. its their own free will what they spend their money, and how much of it on. i dont understand a 500 quid polish but i might understand it more if i could afford it.

car looks great.

Also what people dont realise is that I used some of my insurance money that I got for bruising/whiplash from the non fault accident I was in. And whilst the car was in the bodyshop getting repaired, they washed it and swirled it really badly so in some ways this was all about getting the car back to perfect condition again.
