DO NOT ASK ME FOR DVD'S ON U2U ANYMORE! Ask someone else like Dan! thx.

... hey... I just downloaded the p90x (13 dvds and over 4gb) and will be starting it soon...

Looks immense... I got pretty far on that 100 push up thing, but was getting bored of it... plus 100 push ups was only doing a few muscles..

Have any of you guys heard of p90x or tried it?

Basically a set program for 90 days, with nutrional information in 3 phases (1st 30 days, next 30 and final 30).

The gains people document on youtube are crazy... Note the testomonials (you'd expect to be bullshit) are impressive, but the youtube amatuers are insane too... I can't believe the body can change and grow so fast... The only thing is I've watched a couple and it's fucking hard.

typical example of gain...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTcZboou0DU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxUaDjjPo2U

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxKO2JuHcCY

this is not a 1 off, there's loads of vids like that on youtube, before and after on p90x.

Slight intro to what it's all about:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7jixfq2rN4

so anyone started it? I'm possibly gonna start next week, waiting for my pull up bar to turn up.

Got 20 CS members doing p90x.

There's people claiming better gains in these 90 days than 1 -2 years gym... Just because at gym they're gains plateu out... where as with this program because it constantly tests different muscle groups all the time and switches the order in phases and the diet, the gains work.

I did a bit of reading on a couple of fitness type websites i use, and the general opinion was that theres no reason that it shouldnt work and could be pretty good.

They all seem to emphasis the fact that no matter how you train, u MUST get your diet in good shape first.

Other say you can achieve the same if not better by reading up/asking questions on the forums, and save the pennies if you was to buy it.

Seems like a good idea if its free tho

Yeh Dan that's what I heard too...

Basically most 'people in the know' wouldn't pay for the advice as it's free on forums / alot people already know...

but for a free thing, it's great... basically it guides you all the way, tells you exactly what to do when, what to eat when etc... The hardest part is having the will power to do it.

John I think the key thing is - it stops your gains plateu'ing out the way the program is set.

I know myself I've signed up to the gym or whatever and usually start doing a program and see great gains initially and then it all tails off, I struggle to get any bigger / stronger / toned etc... but initially it works great.

p90x with the order it tells you to do stuff and how it switches it around, combined with the timing of the 3 different diets it puts you on (some low carb, some low fat, some for quick energy / another intake to gain muscle etc)... it actually does keep giving consistant gains.

Often you watch peoples vids and basically

first 30 days, slight tone, large weight loss...

30-60 great toning, slight increase in size.

60-90 Great increase in size and body fat reduced to leave all muscles exposed.

That ties in with what i've read and seen on the stuff.

Cosmo and matt I'll u2u you back regarding the dvd's - my internet at work was down today so i couldn't reply earlier.

Just give me enough to cover the cost of dvd and postage to my paypal and that'll be fine.

Looking at them pics it looks like this would be a lot of hard work & for that reason, i'm out

I've just started at the gym again, although I dont really need to lose weight, just tone up so not sure this would be any good for me. Does look like it gives some very impressive results though

Erm, yeh it'd work i guess... the problem is, it's hard to do... so you have to be almost semi fit to start with.

Basically if you google about it, there are people who were really overweight that used it to shed the pounds ... but didnt get same gains as the people who were fit at the start.

The first 30 day diet alone will lose you shit load of weight - if you can do the things it says in the video then it will lose you loads more, there's a lot of youtube vids of people over weight that it worked for.

But there's a fitness test it advises before anyone tries it... they suggest something called the P90 for anyone not ready for it.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/9765559/P90X-Fitness-Guide << down in the middle is a fitness test bit.

These are what they suggest the min you should be able to do....

- 3 pull ups
- 5" vertical jump
- 15 push ups
- Touch within 6" of your toes
- 1min wall squat
- 10 bicep curls with 20lbs weight
- 25 ins & outs (basically beinging knees to chst and back whilst sitting on floor)
- 2 mins of jumping jacks

TBH, you should be able to do that, and if not you may have to check you're not dead.

to be honest, I can't believe those minimums

When you watch any of the dvd's they're extreme.

Like they'll do 20 pull ups, then 25 push ups, then 20 pulls ups then 25 push ups , etc etc ... for an hour ...

I guess you dont have to keep up with the guys in the video the first time round, the ab exercises are a tad extreme too. You'll see what i mean when I send you a copy.

To be honest I've read most people fail on the discepline of the diet. Prob why they got 169 pages covering just that part.

I'm looking forward to the middle / later stage where loads of fruit is advised, gonna get a blender and blender it all together with some whey protein.
