Need to drill holes in the block or head for oil feeds I think. Need different cams, although apparently an XE inlet(?) cam helps performance. And you need a manifold with a turbo attached obv

f rom what ive noticed...looms are 100, ecu;s with a chipset are about 150 i think, afm must be 30+, good turbo unit 200+, complete inlet 60-100 maybe.

id look for an LET and look at freshening it up, checking everything. if like nic and building something mega then tbh you wouldnt need the loom, afm, ecu etc as you'd have a bespoke loom, ecu etc.

Id only use a c20xe if I was going all out as then you could ditch the internals and buy forged stuff.

If you think about it £800 - £1500? for a decent let and then you scrap loads of parts, or £300 for an xe and then you spend the difference youve saved from not buying a let to get forged pistons and steel rods etc

Depends what your budget is and how far you wanna take it....

the only thing im worried about is that you have to drill a oil return feed in the block, over wise apart from that id be very teping to rebuild a xe to a let , new pistons, robs bearings, shells, ect ect. im in no rush to get one sorted so rebuilding the xe woudnt be a problem to me, if i was to buy a let with all componements id get for around £800- £1400, but then id wana change pistons, rods, gaskets ect, so then could end up spending over £2k

if i was to buy a xe and convert it to a c20let id need to buy, loom ecu manifold turbo, inlet manifold and all of the outher parts but i reckon this could end up bein the total coast of around £2.5k,

what do people think's the best to go for??
phill what can you get for us a let?

ive got a mate whos ment to have everything for an LET (besides a good turbo unit and the motor) for sale. so i could see what he'd be after for all the bits.

and if want rods/pistons. i could supply you with a block, sump, crank, head/rocker cover if need be. save having to buy a full motor and bin the rods/pistons for steel/forged items

the block you could supply i take it ,it would be a let not an xe, if you could find out on what parts your mate has got and a price that would be good, how much would you charge me for the crank sump ect , ive got a spare rocker cover from my xe so that wouldnt be need'd,
