ive gone too long without a build thread for this old car, bought it along time ago, used it a couple of times then put a quaife box in it, used it some more then decided to remove engine to freshen the bay/motor up then bought a house and forgot about the nova then when house was fully renovated remembered i still had it sat in the garage so looked at it abit then after a couple of txts to barnes the decision was made that i would go down the turbo route! expensive mistake! lol

ill post pics etc from the start to where i am now with it soon

anyway it had a f16 box in it to start with so i ran it like that for a while then decided to upgrade to a quaife straight cut synchro box

so this is the f16 ready to be removed

so i started to take some nuts of with my cheap socket set and tools etc

got box out without scraching it much lol

anyway i removed the lsd from the f16 and put a standard diff in that box so it could be sold on and started to clean up my new f20 casing ready for painting etc

diff out

cleaning of the f20 casing, wat a shit job! but not as shit as pulling ragwort in the pissing rain!

so got that clean as possible and started to paint it

so with that done i got the gear set into the casing and all built up

and with that lot sorted got it put back together like this

i did however leave the standard FD in and then found out afterwards that this was too higher ratio as the quaife first gear is high ratio anyways and it was giving the clutch a bit of hammer in first on set off so i then bought a straight cut 4.2 FD for it

lol, id need to be tempted with a lot of cash to sell it

anyway i took it to santa pod in 2007 and needed earmuffs on to drive it down due to the combined noise of the gearbox, throttles, exhaust and no sound deadning whatso ever! lol

my mates boot

so i got back from pvs and parked it up

then few months later i decided the bay could do with a freshen etc and also could do with putting that 4.2 FD in the box so out came the motor

me taking the alternatot to bits to have it chromed!

you can see in this pic how grubby and dirty the tb's had become

so i removed them and individually bead blasted them
from this

to this

so i blasted all the bodies and the inlet manifold and replaced all nuts and bolts with stainless items and had all linkages etc silver zinc plated and ended up with this

all put back together
