We've currently got a back boiler in our house, but are soon to be building an extension and replacing the heating system & boiler.

I'd originally planned to go for a combi boiler, however a builder thinks it might be better to go for a boiler / cylinder combination.

We're going to have hot water going to the kitchen, utility & 3 toilets. Would a combi boiler be ok to cope with this?

Thanks in advance.

Depends how many showers you have, need a massive beast of a combi to run 2 showers at the same time, and then it's still struggling, so it's better going for a normal boiler and a cylinder.

Depends on what kinda need you have for hot water,
combis only really draw off hot water at one tap at a time.

if you have a few toilets maybe consider and electric shower in one of them??

i would have a combi instead of cylinder getting heated all the time mate tbh your gona save a good bit of money.

what kinda budget you got for the heating and are you upgrading all the pipework and rads?
how big is the house?

Cheers,

I'm not sure about the budget as builders are quoting for this as part of the extension cost.

We're going to have two showers in total, so maybe one being electric would help.

Its a 3 bedroom house, lounge, bathroom, en-suite, cloakroom, kitchen / lounge / dining room on open plan, small utlility room.

We're getting the pipework and radiators replaced too.
