First off let me say sorry for posting another thread like this

I am looking to get a new motor in the summer, but after speaking with Beardy I am very tempted to put a 2ltr in mine either (XE/LET) as it is much cheaper than what I was planning to do but the down side is that it's still a corsa and it still has it's little problems...

To get a new motor my intention was to probably sell mine and get a 5/6k loan and I have been looking at cars such as: CTR, Astra GSi T, Audi S3

So the question is simple really, would you get a loan for £6k and get a bigger nicer car or would you spend half that and get a corsa LET?

Opinions welcome!

Tbh you will probably end up spending near on that same amount with putting a LET in yours than it would be with buying a newer car.

At the end of the day every car has its problems, just seems converted cars tend to have more problems than others.

I mean a LET in your tidy Corsa would be awesome, but if your using the car as a daily driver then you might want to consider one of the newer cars to be more reliable.
You never know, you could get a LET lump fitted in yours and it could be bullet proof and spotless, but with my past everytime I took mine out something would go wrong.

I suppose if you get it done to your Corsa, get it done properly and dont skip out on anything or bodge it.

Second option may seem more sense but do you really want to be paying off that loan for as long as it takes, as you could get bored of the newer car quicker than a LET Corsa.

Just my opinion

Thanks guys for the comments so far, yea I said to Beardy that I wanted at least stage 2 and he said that £2500 should be sufficient!

In terms of having the skills I don't have any in terms of cars the only mod I have put on myself was my air filter and my grill (although I do have a mate of mine who does free labour )

A LET corsa would be fun which in a way I want something scary fast (I'm used to a 1.6 which is nippy but not nothing to shout about)

So you think I'll end up spending £3500 on repairs??

In that case perhaps I should give beardy more ££££ to rebuild the engine or something?

As said thanks for the replies

another thing is the LET is dead money, as soon as it's finished from what i've seen their worth £2000-£2500, £3000 if its amazing

your unlikely to lose that much on the @£7000 cars

True those Audi S3's hold their value really well, most of them are still like 6k / 7k and they are 2000 / 2001 plate

I want something fairly quick (can't afford anything stupid quick) and would preferrably want a turbo and fairly modern

yea I did have a look at those, it's funny apart from the Corsa LET the cars are all very similar in terms of performance

I think in an ideal situation I should buy something like a golf tdi and then have a LET corsa as a bit of fun (maybe a track car) will have to see really
