1.6 16v sport
Went in to the garage, had new cat, front pipe and new back box fitted.
Now when i start it it will idle from cold at just over 1k RPM - so no change there.
But once it settles down it now idle's around 700 RPM where as before it was 800-850 RPM.
Any ideas why it has started doing this?
There isnt any EML or anything.
i do have an EGR valve and ICV to fit to it, but the issue wasnt there before the new exhaust bits were added

is it hunting or just idling lower, if there are no side affects i'd just leave it, using less fuel

Strange that, the exhaust may of exaggerated the issue but I don't know why.
If it was me, I would try fitting the ICV and EGR, reset codes (if any) and see if that improves the idle...

after i fitted my inlet and 4-1 my car idled around 750, wouldnt worry about it... unless it starts to jump about and cut out etc

Yeah, there are no other issues. Just lost around 100 RPM 
Its just when it is idling the steering wheel shakes more (how i noticed it was lower) where as if i press the accelerator lighty to get it around 900-1k the shaking stops
Ah well, if its nothing too bad i guess ill leave it be.
Plan on getting the EGR and ICV fitted soon so ill see after that

Oh, my sext question actually.
Do all 1.6's get hot so fast when they are sat in traffic?
ie. driving round town for 20 mins and then stopping in traffic and having the temp guage go up quite a bit? (the fan and everything kicks in, but i just thought it got hot quick)
My 1.2 never really got hot

My last x16xe and my current x16xe both had a slightly lumpy idle when i fitted my exhausts. Only slight but make the steering wheel shake a little and you can feel it when sat still. Hasnt caused me any problems but it does make me think sometimes

Lol. i might get the lamba sensor replaced and give it a service to see if it changes anything. Wouldnt worry tho.

Mine did the same when I changed the exhaust Marc, with my de-cat it idles aroun 800 rpm so is slightly lumpy, but no problems with it.
as for the temperature, yes that's normal - as you know, the 1.6 engine bay is a little bit more packed than the 1.2 bay!
As long as your fan cuts in at or around 100 degrees, and the temperature drops again then don't worry about it.

wouldn't get a new EGR valve fitted there pretty pricey considering you can blank it off for next to nothing and it doesn't really affect the running of the engine at all
