I have a carpark barrier remote for my work, but the boss needs it. 
How can I copy the frequency to another remote for me to keep?

A basic learning remote should work it.
You can get one of these for about a tenner off the net, just double check it has 'learning' function - this is where you program a button on the remote e.g PLAY then fire your carpark remote at it and it learns the IR code.

I'd be very suprised if it's standard ir, not secure at all.

it wont be IR it will be RF, normal remote wont work, can your boss not contact the company who supplied it and get a spare?

If it's rf the remote is probably paired to the receiver the same as a car key would be, I know on my garage you can't just copy the frequency to open it.
