Went to see an 18k mile Mk1 Focus RS, and apart from 2 small dings on the rear quarter and a scuff on the bottom of the front bumper (along with a few expected stone chips) it was near perfect.
It was #587 (or something similar) so it didn't have the revised seats and were therefore creased which was a downisde, but other than that, it was fine. Its advertised @ £10,750

Then on the way home, we happened to see another RS driving along that had for sale signs on the window. Coincidentally, the woman who was driving it pulled over into a layby, so we stopped to speak to her.
It was a 53 plate #2147 (i think), with 45,000 miles. Lots more stone chips, but it had the revised seats, and other than the stone chips, it was in great condition. We didn't mention a price and neither did she, but me and my dad think it could be bought for around £8.5k.

Because we're looking for an RS to become a daily driver for my dad and he thinks it would be a shame to put about 10k miles a year onto the lower milage one, but he's also not convinced he would prefer to put even more miles on an existing high milage one.

Then to make matters worse, we just found this LCR on PH.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/858637.htm

38k miles, £7950 and no worries about increasing the milage and ruining a potential collectors car. The problem is, its not going to hold its value as much as an RS, and its not as special/rare.

Just don't know what to do...

Your dad doesn't know what to do so you ask on a corsa forum. Makes sense.

Don't throw another spanner in the works
And, no he didn't considder that. He doesn't like having to rev a car to get the best out of it. He prefers something with a bit of torque.

Just seems like more showing off from yourself, I hear more about your dad on here than I do from my own dad at home.

Its nothing like that. A few people on here know he previously had an RS but he rolled it and wrote it off, so the fact that he's looking to replace it with the money he got from the insurance shouldn't be a big surprise...

And we're talking about a £10k car. There are a lot of people on here have cars worth more than that.

tbh, civic type-r wont matter what miles is on it. engines are bullet and nuclear strike proof. better purchase allround than a scabby ford.

Because he's concerned about the resale value. He recognises the fact that a high milage rs will never be worth as much as a low milage one.

So it pointless even considdering another rs, and should he just get the likes of a cupra r? He won't have to worry about it as much, but it'll lose a lot more money.

Oh, and I don't mention my dad that much. I only ever talk about him, when its relevant.
But for some reason you're the only one who ever picks up on it or mentions it.

Never going to happen. I've got a funny feeling the Mk2 will only do about 3000 miles a year at the very most.

If he's concerned about the resale value then a focus RS is not for him at all. My dad paid 22k i think for his when it came out, it's done 33k & i think he'd get 9k for it at a push.

My advice would be to not buy a Ford Focus.

Especially after rolling one.

They must be prone.

Banger for weekdays and proper car/s or fast banger/s for the weekend etc.

Win/win situation.
