well basicly
one day i was driving back home and i noticed my temperature gauge (spelling) compleetly drop
then my heaters stoped giving me hot air and replaced it with cold
then i got back home and opend my bonnet to see a little puddle of water under the car
asked some friends
they said it was a head gasket

ive been driving it for about a week now after this happend...
the heater is working fine and the temperature gauge (spelling) is working fine too

also
one of my friends told me that the head gasket is on the opposite side to where the leak is comeing from so it might not be that
also
when your head gasket blows he ses that you get some white gunky shit in your oil cap
and that is clean

stopped off to see some mates today
opend my bonnet
opend the cap on my coolant resivour (spelling) to fill it up a bit
and steam started pouring out and the water all pilled back into the resivour(spelling) and started boiling and jumping out the top of it

the only other thing we can thing of is if the thermostat is gon on it

anybody got any advise or sugestions as to what it could be?

thanks guys

shouldn't be the head gasket as the water usually goes into the combustion chamber and then you get lots of steam coming out the exhaust. leaking head gaskets don't tend to leak on the floor either.
the heater went cold because you lost water.
It is normal for just after driving for the water to come out of the expansion tank when you open the cap.
It probably is your thermostat but where is the leak? Is it holding water when engine is cold?

First off... Get some new mates, as they blatantly don't know shit about cars... Going from what you have been saying, if you listen to them, you're better off walking with 2 broken legs, as it will be more reliable than anything they try to maintain/fix with that intelligence level...

Secondly... Thats the top hose for the Radiator. I've had a couple of those blow, easiest way is just replace that hose from radiator to thermostat outlet.

Reason your saying its more apparent when hot is the thermostat opens at a set temp, so that can sometimes cause the hose to only show its weakness at that point. My Omega did this the past few days, was fine till it got to the temp for the stat to open, then there was a whiff of steam from the front of the hose where it attaches to the radiator. Only briefly though to begin with (literally about 10 seconds of lovely steam then it would stop and behave) till it went kaboom

And *never* undo the cap to the coolant bottle when your engine has just been run and is hot, no bloody wonder it pissed itself out!

Get that hose replaced, and also just give the radiator a visual inspection next time its run. Just leave the engine running for it to warm up with the bonnet open, you will soon see where/if there are any more leaks.

either that or a leak on the stat housing. Alot harder to check for DIY if your not sure what to do though, and a garage will probably try fob it off for more than its worth...

Be worth knowing where abouts he is, see if anyone local who knows how can have a look maybe just see whats what. Only real way I can think to visibly check if its the pump is to take the belt cover off & just let it idle till warm.
